Powerful Beast!
Just received my torch after placing order 2 days ago- love the fast shipping!Took this torch out of the box and "fired" this baby up as a evil smile spread over my face. All I can say is WOW! This little gadget is a powerful beast! I bought it to quickly light up my charcoal discs for hookah and to attempt making creme brûlée. It only took just a couple of seconds to light up the charcoal (flame may be a bit too strong for it) but I can't wait to make creme brûlée. I'm sure I will find more uses for this bad boy, but I'm so pleased with the purchase I had to write a review immediately. I will update how it holds up after more use, but if you are looking for a quality torch, look no further. It feels solid in the hand and was very easy to fill with butane and turn it on (instructions were on the back of the box). It produces a strong blue flame but can be dialed back to a smaller flame. One thing of note: when I took it out of the box, the gas regulator was open and the switch was on. So when I filled with butane, I heard the gas escaping before realizing that it was on. This makes me suspect it was used but no matter, it still worked great. So make sure you check to make sure everything is in the off/closed position before filling.

Buyer Beware!!!...
We're really enjoying this culinary torch. Would highly recommend.Be sure to order the zippo fuel when you make your purchase.UPDATE: After only using the torch for less than 8 - 10 times, we had to throw it away. Last night, I was using the torch to melt some pimiento cheese on top of a burger. I turned the torch on, but it wouldn't let me adjust the flame and it would NOT TURN OFF! Both myself and my husband tried everything, but it wouldn't shut off. Finally, my husband submerged it in water to stop the flame, but it continued to spill out the fuel until it was empty. We immediately took it outside and threw it in the trash bin.The search is on for a replacement. Maybe it was a fluke, but it was a bit disconcerting.

Gives meats a nice finish that tastes and smells like they were cooked on a grill.
Easy to fill, easy to use. A little scary because the flame comes on really strong if you turn the fuel knob more than a very slight bit open. With practice I'll get more comfortable with it. I seared some sous vide prepared steaks with it and it gave them a great crust and a wonderful taste and smell of having been grilled outside. I don't like using a hot pan to finish the meat because it smokes up the kitchen if you get the pan hot enough to do the job. The torch gives a nice Maillard reaction without setting off the smoke alarm.

Wood stove lighter
Works great, just used it to light my wood stove, didn't even need kindling. Immediately threw out half a dozen of those junk utility lighters that I had sitting around from mechanical failures/premature emptying. Was surprised nobody reviewed it as a way to light a stove, so very effective. True head of household has been on my case lately about the kindling looking messy on the hearth, so had to find a way to get rid of the scraps and still light it. It's about the only one that doesn't have a review with someone claiming it blew up in their hands or wouldn't turn off. And currently the only one with a lifetime warranty. It looks identical to the liba torch, but it doesn't have the fuel gauge and it's $15 cheaper for what amounts to a mechanically identical product, plus this one comes with a lifetime warranty vs. the libas 3 year one. You'll also note if you look at the 1 star comments, everyone that aired a gripe with the device (every single one) received a replacement offer from the manufacturer, not something you'll find on the competitors offerings.Definitely got a few laughs out of researching which one to buy, at least a few people who wrote reviews will be future Darwin award winners if they ever buy a gun, as they had the nozzle pointed at their face when they ignited the torch (think that person was a review of the blazer)

Good torch but hard to light
I like the torch overall, it functions well and it's good to have some choice of flame strength. I do have two issues, however:1. It is hard to actually turn on. At most levels, the gas is too strong to ignite, and even if you use a match it will blow it out. There is a very narrow range which results in a flame that ignites and stays lit.2. I wish it had options for a weaker flame. The minimum functional setting is still pretty high.

Refused to light the third time
I fell in love with this torch for ease of lighting how good it felt in your hand, the wide flame nozzle area, I gave it one star because I was only able to use it twice it refused to ignite the third time I was ready to love it

Great Torch for Cooking but has a MAJOR issue after several uses
Real Rating: 4.5 starsThis torch works really well other than one minor annoyance. It's a little tricky to light the flame at times but once you figure it out, you should be okay. Don't immediately freak out if the flame doesn't come on the first time you pull the trigger. Just make sure the knob is turned to the lowest gay output setting and then ignite. It has worked great on the following:- Crusting a steak- Making parmesan crisps- Melting cheese on top of mac & cheeseI've only had it for a week and so far it's been great. Just make sure to get high quality butane. One that can burn hot. I use Zippo.Buy with confidence.EDITED on 9/16/2015:After using this torch for a couple weeks, it's starting to fail on me. It's becoming hard (almost impossible) to refill it with butane. The butane nozzle (no matter which brand I use) doesn't seem to work. After trying three different butane brands, I've determined that it's the torch that has the issue. Will return and turn to another brand.
