Best unit on the market
The Intelli XJ is what this Air Shield was called before name change. It's a PERFECT unit for air filtration and my Intellii is STILL working strong after 12 years! I got this because 1 is good, 2 is fantastic! I smoke and run mine full time 24/7, fan on high flow. The only time I shut it off is to clean it. It traps an ungodly amount of smoke, tar, dust etc, leaving the house air nice. I break down and wash all components thoroughly every few weeks to a month. The carbon Hepa filter face I vac and wipe with damp cloth and only change once every 6 months or so. It's REALLY easy to break down and wash this air filter. Have to wait till its COMPLETELY dry before putting back together and turning on though.BTW pay NO attention to setting and using the wiz bang "clean monitor" " odor dust allergen" and all that ( unless you want to). Just plug it in and set fan on high and have REALLY clean air. Seriously.Clean it once a month or so, and if you have animals open up the face of the unit and vac the dander and hair off the pre-filter once a week or so. You will be absolutely SHOCKED how much will be on there in just a week. This is a great heavy duty air purifier that will last you for decades. It's the one you're looking for if you're a smoker and want to pull the smoke cloud out of the air fast, and want to keep your house from smelling like a cigar humidor.

Yes! I highly recommend Air Shield UV Air Purifier. And for very good reasons.
Hello, Wow!!!I am very, very pleased with my new air purifier.Having had many common brands of air purifiers over my lifetime, and then two very high end Molekule systems, ($800 each) since they first hit the market, I now know they are just ok. With the fires here in Sonoma County Ca, (literally only a few miles from my home these last 3 years), I decided to put air purifying units in each room. I have serious cardiopulmonary issues. My mother who lives with me has COPD and is on Oxygen.Knowing I needed to up our protection, I had a nudge to research my own Molekule's and see what new information was out there before buying so many more units. Yikes! New recent independent testing showed the Molekule's do not do exactly what they claim. But while they are still reasonably ok units, the primary reason I looked elsewhere was they can’t effectively clean the square footage they claim (400-600 Sq Ft). And an independent Consumer Report study showed that 100 Sq Ft is their true effective zone. While doing my research I came across the Air Shield UV Air Purifier from Advanced Pure Air. Was happy to research the company, and even happier to learn that the science behind their units is accurate and the marketing is true. Now, I am happy to have personally experienced my first unit, and to be reporting to you that not only do they do everything the Molekule does, they do even more!First: They really are able to clean the square footage they claim. Up to 800 Sq Ft of open space!Second: Their replaceable filters are cheaper!Third: Other filters in the unit are self-cleanable!Fourth: They monitor the air, indicate the results, and in auto mode, adjust for the results!Fifth: They are designed better so that the UV light has a greater chance to actually kill those little germ boogers in the air!And - THEY ARE A QUARTER OF THE PRICE!Finally - Am now going to purchase 4 more units for my home.So YES, if you really want clean air, I highly recommend the Air Shield UV Air Purifier!

Probably the only 9 stage air purifier at this price point.
There are air cleaners that go to $1,000 or so, but they are all only 4 or 5 stages. This Pure Air unit is 9 stages, so it gets EVERYTHING out of the air. It has a final stage UV-C light that kills any germs that made it past the filters. It has an LED bar on the front that shows when there are pollutants in the air and the unit speeds up to deal with them. You can watch it respond in real time. Just got it a couple of weeks ago, so no idea how long it will last, and so forth. I looked at various list of the top 10 and never found this unit on any list, but after researching many units I think this was the best for the price. Also used Affirm to pay for it, so only a small payment each month which helps to build one's credit.

We have 4 of these!
I researched a lot before buying my first Advanced Pure Air. I actually bought the first one over 10 years ago, and it is still working like new!Since then we have added to the collection. This is simply the best air purifier on the market. 9 stages, easy to clean, and built to last (even survived our 2-year-old).It's quiet when you need it to be, and will really clean out the air if you turn it up.I've recommended these to friends and family. I put a price watch on these to buy when they go "on sale", but I've only seen them go between $280 and $400 (when I bought my first one). They're worth it whatever you pay!

it removes smoke and odors and I am perfectly happy with it
I purchased and installed this on March 20th. Had I reviewed it immediately, I would have given it five stars because it works as advertised: it removes smoke and odors and I am perfectly happy with it. However I waited until the filters needed a cleaning to review, hence four stars (actually I'd give it 4.5 if I could). The pre-filter is easy to clean under running water as are the hepa and metal filters with a vacuum cleaner. However, the metal plasma filter requires extra effort. The instruction manual advises that care should be exercised not to break the six thin metal wires, and since replacement wire packs are offered for sale, I assume they break with ease. We're advised to use a toothbrush to clean the metal grid under those wires but a toothbrush has too high of a profile; it was touching, disturbing the wires. Luckily I have a really narrow bottle brush that fits easily around and under them.Based on the gunk that was on this plasma filter, I'm pretty sure this is where most of the magic happens and it's important to clean it well. So filter cleaning requires a time investment of 15 minutes every two months (with a down time of a couple of hours while the filters dry). I can live with that but wanted others to know of this maintenance requirement.I do recommend it and am getting a second unit for another room.
