MORrydeSTP214-029H 3 Step Handrail for Step Above 1st Generation RV Entry Step

I received my railing yesterday 4/14/2020.I removed the railing from the box only to discover missing hardware. I called Mor/Ryde and spoke to customer service. I was asked if i wanted the sizes of the hardware and purchase locally or Mor/Ryde send out replacements. I opted fir the latter as we are currently under voluntary shelter at home due to the pandemic.A confirmation that the hardware is on order.

I received the product in a previously opened and resealed box. The screws and washers were just thrown in the box. Apparently the previous purchaser realized as I did that the drilled holes were not properly drilled and wouldn’t fit the receiving screws on my steps. Instead of returning the stair rail, I decided to drill the holes in the right locations. Once installed, the rail works as advertised.

This review is for the Mor/ryde 3 step hand rail.Super easy to install since the nuts are pre-installed on the step.The hand rail is handy (sorry) but I find it to be somewhat in the way when using the steps. The hand rail is made of 1" square tubing and as such intrudes 1" on to the bottom step and consequently vertically from there. A redesign that would put the outside edge of the hand rail even with the outside edge of the step would be a good improvement. This would still allow the rail to clear the door frame when stowing the steps yet give me a tad more room going in or out of the trailer. A possible modification is in my future.

I ordered this rail at the time we ordered our trailer early in the year. Fast forward and we picked up our trailer a few weeks ago, and found the rail would not fit. They had changed the hole location on the steps. Not sure it would have made a difference if i had the trailer, since it is not clearly identified there was a change to a Gen 2 step and this rail only fits Gen 1. I've passed the return period, so i'll have to eat this one and see if i can modify the step or rail to fit. Just make sure you have the correct step for this rail. The rail itself is of high quality as are other Mor Ryde products, so i won't hit the product rating for the fitment issue. On the description on Amazon, i'd rate it a 1 star.

Super easy to install and I am glad we found this rail. We had no idea it existed. Seems to be well made and is a safety win. All rv steps should come with this rail.

My 27 ft. Outback travel trailer. I bought these steps along with a handrail. The instructions were thorough. The steps are very rigid and stable. I made two alterations in the install. First, after the aluminum transition was removed I noticed a small eighth inch segment of metal in the inside of the top of the threshold. I cut this off flush with the threshold. This enables the new step threshold to fit snug over the existing threshold. It was not necessary to alter the screen or entry doors. I also used three 1/4 by 20 bolts staggered along the mounting plate for extra rigidity. These bolts extend through the floor with large fender washers and nuts under the trailer. Very happy with this purchsse

Like most of the other reviews the box gets damaged by the handrail sliding around and the hardware falls out.I purchased three machine screws 1/4 in-20 diameter and thread by 1-3/4 in length and three washers for 1/4 in screws. It’s best to use stainless screws to resist rusting. The steps already had factory threaded inserts installed. Everything bolted up properly. Cost of hardware around $3.00 from Home Depot.

Never in my wildest dream did I think I would need this, but it sure is GREAT now that I have one.

This handle is a nice addition to the solid steps - gives you a stable handhold going up or down the steos. Even though it is only 1" thick it is strong and stable. The only disapointment is that it does take a bit of your width of the steps up. We are in a seasonal site and dont fold thep steps until the end of the season, so I drilled holes on the outside of the step, got some longer bolts and mounted the handle on the outside edge - huge improvement, and the only reason I gave it 4 stars. Still a good purchase - we love it.

My error. I did not know there was a Gen 2 step. I ordered STP214-029H. The correct product # is STP214-121H for a Gen 2 step. I ordered in January for the install in March, did not fit and did not realize it could not not be returned after 30 days.Unfortunate.

Took only minutes to install. Great support.

I am physically handicapped and find it to be much easier to get up and down the steps, it is much more stable.
