great if you have no other options
I brought these with me for use in a sports competition where I knew the hotel wouldn't have a freezer. I've never tried instant cold packs before so I'm not able to compare to similar products. I'd much prefer something that came straight out of a freezer or actual ice. These cold packs feel more like something that came out of the refrigerator. It provides some relief but may not be adequate for some situations.

Work well
These are nice ice pack, especially for the price. They are not the longest lasting disposable packs, but they're great in an emergency or for intermittent use. Very easy to use (squeeze-pop-shake). We bought these after my wife broke her ankle to use when it really was bothering her and they lasted long enough to help bring swelling back down until the Advil kicked in. The rest are going in my backcountry first aid kit. The bigger ones (that cost more) do work better, but I can't really complain at this price. They're nice sized to fit in a first aid kit too.

Handy For Hiking
I volunteer as a fire lookout. The one I chose is a pretty good hike. I'd been having trouble with my back and had three new lookout to train so I thought having some instant ice would be a good idea. These were easy to pack and got the job done. I put it against my back on the way there and on the way home and that made the whole experience pain free, literally.I recommend them for anyone in a similar situation where ice will help.

Works great at a very fair price
After doing some re-con at the local Wal-Mart & Target, there was no question this was a very good price for such an indispensible item.My husband keeps one in his tennis bag for those days when he feels a little sore. And the fact that you obviously don't need to freeze them and can take them anywhere is such a great advantage. Each packet is roughly 8" x 4" so they're good for adults and children alike. And the kids always love the "wow" moment when they become instantly cold. The product arrived securely packaged and extremely quick. Coupled with an unbeatable price - there is no reason for anyone not to have a few in their cabinet.

Hiking must have
We had 3.5 miles to go to get off the trail. We made it to the waterfall and to make a long story short after I soaked my ankle at the waterfall, my daughter wrapped my foot in a first bandage from out first aid kits and wrapped these ice packs around. The Duvall fire department rescued me on the last mile. Thank God we had these with us. It wasn't a sprain I actually broke my fibula (bone close to ankle). Get these for your safety.

Good First Aid add on
Added to First Aid Kit . if you do not have a First Aid Kit, buy or build one. We are human and oft times clumsy. Many uses for a cold pack such as bumps, hard knocks, fore head coolers, etc. The cost was ok and now I'm somewhat better prepared for ???

Good for Mobile Icing Needs
Decent product for mobile icing needs. I ran a 2-day relay race with a foot injury that required icing in between runs so these were the perfect option. They were terribly hard to activate though so I ended up beating them against the vehicle to activate. I wish they stayed colder, longer. Overall a decent buy.

Great for short-term relief
I use these for softball games or as needed for a quick cool down. They work great on the back of your neck to help with heat exhaustion. They don't stay ice-cold for very long - more like 20 minutes tops, especially on hot days. Great if needed unexpectedly and they do not take up much real estate in your bag.
