Llama Llama Loves to Read

I used this book to kick off a Read Across America Project with kindergartners and they loved it. It has good references to learning letters and sight words. I like that it encourages young students to learn to love to read.

Whether just introducing the concept of reading, letter recognition, phonics, sight words, simple sentences or more, this book does a great job covering it all.I love that it progresses from how letters have different sounds, and the letters form to make words, the words come together to form sentences and sentences can tell stories in a book!It covers not getting frustrated while learning to read and to be proud of learning to read!

I absolutely love this book. I wish I would have had it when I was still teaching kindergarten. The text is written in rhyme, and the story is perfect for motivating young listeners to learn to read themselves. I bought this along with a set of Little Readers for Beginners also found on Amazon for my cousin who is in Kindergarten. I highly recommend this book!

This book is great as a read-a-loud to students learning to read. There are several places where they can read part of the book with you. My kindergarten classes loved chiming in when called for with their abc’s and the reading of simple words presented throughout. One part of the book encourages readers to not be upset if it’s too hard at first and not to give up or pout but try to sound it out. A very positive share with beginning readers.

I have bought many of the Llama Llama books because my grandchildren love the stories. They are great to ask comprehension questions, have rhyming words and lessons. Llama Llama Mess Mess Mess helped my two year olds children understand importance of helping to pick up. Love these books!
