Great gift for Dad or Grandpa that they will never use
Any time I see a ruler attached to a tool, I know it's one of those things that tries to be everything and is really nothing. This tool is one of those, but... what a nice gift to get from a child. Now, let's be honest, you're never going to head out to the John Deere or that Cat D9 and fix anything with this tool. You might roughly measure a bearing but that's it. But the smile that will come across a child's face when you wow over all the things this tool can do, will be priceless. In my opinion the pen is of not much use - it's large and cumbersome, and the flashlight isn't very bright. It does extend about 7 inches though and it will pick up things. The thing that surprised me was when I attached it to my CPU frame and it glommed on like a suction cup. Then I saw how it could serve a real purpose providing light to me while working at my desk - simple things of course, but it works all the same. And at $10 today on Amazon, your child or grandchild could well afford this "multi tool". And it even had a bottle cap remover for bottles with caps - remember those? This is a nice light duty tool at best. It is surprisingly solid, composed of mostly metal, and it will pick up metal things from behind the desk or in that awkward place behind the books - just keep it away from your John Deere. It is a nice, well made little novelty tool and for that purpose I recommend it.

Useful gadget
I originally decided to get this due to the magnetic extension with a light on it, but this is much more. The LED light is not very bright, but enough to locate that small bolt you dropped next to your motor mount, and then grab it with the magnet. What's great, is that not only does it telescope, but it bends to get those really hard to reach items. This is slightly bulky, but having so many uses, it's worth it. Having a pen integrated is also a good feature, and extra sets of button cell batteries too (2 sets). I actually decided to get a second one for a gift giveaway too. This is a good addition to my toolbox.

Not thrilled with this as a pen, and the flashlight isn't very bright. The rest mostly works great.
This device has a small detachable section that includes a pen at one end, and a capacitive stylus on the other end (for phone and tablet touchscreens), with the stylus nub detachable, revealing a small screwdriver head with flathead on one side and Phillips head on the other. On the main unit, you have a small ruler, a bottle opener, a flexible extendable head with a magnet and a flashlight. By my could that's 8 tools, unless you want to could the pen-style clip at the side. What works well: The magnet has a decent amount of strength for its size, and you can see in one of the images it picked up a pair of scissors. Don't expect rare earth metal strength, but this should be more than sufficient for picking up dropped screws. The flexible neck is also quite handy. What doesn't work well: I wish they found a cleaner way to work in the pen, or just didn't have it at all. The extra ink cartridges make a mess inside the packet they're shipped in, and they're so small I expect they won't last long. The ruler only measures centimeters. The flashlight seems a bit weak, and I'm sure I've seen brighter LED lights this size. What works okay: Everything else.Overall, I still think this device's strengths outweigh its flaws, but it definitely has some kinks I wish were ironed out.

Dim Flashlight, Short Reach—But Worth Keeping Just in Case
This tool is definitely unusual. The pickup feature is quite short, but I can see it being useful in a pinch someday. The flashlight is dim, and it runs on button-cell batteries, which likely means it won't last long—especially if I accidentally leave it on. Given the odd battery size, I'm sure I’ll never get around to replacing them.Still, I’m keeping it in my car's console because I have a feeling it will come in handy eventually. If nothing else, I might use it to open a bottle or jot something down with the pen. I’m really hoping it proves worthwhile in the end.

Gadget Lover Gift
This really is a novelty kind of gift, if you have that reference it's great. What I really find exceptional about this is that it comes with 2 extra sets of replacement batteries for the flashlight. The flashlight is just spot flashlight for immediate work, examination; it doesn't profess to be strong, as well that goes along with the limited reach of the telescoping neck. It's a good little tool to have on your desk or in your glove compartment for those moments when something falls under the seat, you can light up the area, if metal click it up with the magnetic side. Although both ends are magnetic, the side with the flashlight has the stronger magnet because it has more surface area of magnet, where the opposite end has enough to snap in place the pop-in pen/screwdriver.Weakest point to me is the screwdriver aspect as the flathead/philips isn't strongly situated in the end, and to use it in the hands the pieces are very small, but so are the tools, again the novelty aspect. My dad will get some amusement out of this for sometime, even though it has a very awkward pen better out of its snapped position, but again, that's another novelty aspect to snap in place a pen to this magnetic pick-up tool lined with a useful ruler.

Magnetic flashlight
Two things my dad loves, flashlights, and gadgets. He loves this little light. Anything I can get him that has multiple uses, he's all over it. He was thrilled about the bottle opener especially. It's a nice little gadget but the light isn't very powerful.
