These fit our railing!
Great little planters. Fit railing snug. Seem strong and durable but only time will tell. As you can see ended up buying 3 for mini veggie garden out of the reach of the deer!

Love it
This was a great planter. I put it on the front porch rail and filled it with flowers. It fits snugly on the rail and doesn't blow off. It has holes so the flower box drains nicely. It's deep enough for many types of plants. If anything happens to it, I'll replace it with another one. I ordered the bronze color and it goes nicely with my beige house and brown porch. I recommend to any one that wants to have flowers on the rail. Oh, I almost forgot it's built to fit a thin rail and a wide rail.

Prefer the ones designed for one size rail instead of two
I already have some of the version that fits only 2x6 rails and needed more but they were out of stock. I got this one, which fits 2x4 and 2x6 using two different gaps on the bottom.I have 6" rails so I can't tell you how it fits 4" rails, but on my 6" rails it isn't snug on the rail, is top-heavy and could blow off in a strong wind unless you drive a screw or nail to secure it. The version that only fits 2x6 rails fits very snug and lies low on the rail and even with giant bushy plants in them they are rock solid on the rails during a storm. If you know your rails are 6", get the one designed only for that sized rail instead and you won't need nails or screws to keep the planters secure.

Worth the Cost
I had looked everywhere locally for a planter with a similar design because I used them over a decade ago. My herbs were being destroyed when in the ground by voles. Those little pests devour the roots of everything. Who knew voles would eat chives? I found a deck rail planter with coconut fiber as the liner and not only did they not fit my rails properly and have to be tied, but the herbs had to be watered more than once daily to live. In the south, an exposed coco-fiber bottom will just not cut it. These pots have much more space for root expansion, they do not require constant watering because they are solid bottomed, they are very stable on the porch rails and they are not leaving rust marks on my vinyl covered railing. For my use they are perfect.

Great rail boxes
I purchased two of these for herbs for my back deck railing. They were much larger than I thought, and was able to easily plant two large herb plants in each one with room to spare. I was worried about them blowing off the railing, so I used rocks to weigh them down a bit. They are quite deep as well, so I used other filler before the potting soil. They’re pretty nice.

Lightweight design, so be aware it can easily blow off if not weighted down; beware of the NOT SO EASY to REMOVE STICKERS!
These are nicely designed but if you use it without heavy content/soil, it WILL blow off the railing in a moderate breeze - my wife put (for the fall/winter) some silk plants in these with foam base and it blew off the deck twice now - the good news is neither time did it break or ding from a 14' fall to the grass -The worst thing about these planters? THE STICKERS are VERY difficult to remove - why is it necessary to use security grade glue on these stickers - took an hour to remove all the stickers from 3 of these... ridiculous!

Deck Rail Gardening
We now have four of these rail planters. They are sturdy and have good depth. They are terrific for flowers and vegetables/herbs (e.g., radishes, carrots, leaf lettuce, dill, parsley). Growing vegetables and herbs at deck railing height is convenient and it keeps everything out of reach of the rabbits.

Just what I needed
Sits well on my vinyl rails. A little more room for soil than the older ones, which is good. Look Great!
