Works great!
Used this recently to make some agar in my SAB setup, had added to water and pressurized it inside a bottle to finalize. Poured once to temp and the mixture was smooth consistency. After cooling and some transfers, it shows good growth. You get a good number of dishes out of this powder.

Great for making plates for spore prints or tests
I use this agar to make plates to test my liquid cultures for contamination. This mixes up fine on my hotplate magnetic stirrer. Once the plates have gone through the autoclave and cooled, I innoculate with the culture and can tell in a couple days if I have any contamination. This is useful, as in liquid culture you often can have contamination that doesn't show up as it does on the plates. In culture, the contamination is arrested, but once it is in seed spawn, it becomes rapidly apparent and this is the only way to tell if it was contamination in your seed spawn or in the liquid culture. Really has helped me a lot to troubleshoot where I am having issues with growing mushrooms.

All in one product for mushroom spores and cloning, looks just fine at first view
I have grown on pre-prepared and sterilized plastic dishes in the past – this is my first experiment pouring my own plates, I am not yet expert. What is sold here is not just agar – it’s an appropriate mix for spore/clone growing: 47.5% agar, 47.5% malt, 5% soy peptone. Internet lore indicates you could do without the soy. Or you could replace it with nutritional yeast. And you could have a lesser degree of soy. There are many offered mixes, this is one of the options, and likely a good one. I’ve just poured some out and am waiting to test for airborne mold and yeast. I will write back if I don’t get good growth; a more exacting trial is not coming in the near future. To understand the process, Google “Fresh Cap how to make agar plates”.For the beginner who is starting out running a few plates for the first time, I highly, totally, recommend starting with pre-prepared dishes. Buy a stack of 10, get familiar with those first. Preparing your own is a good deal of work, and if you’re not already very familiar with keeping a sterile environment, it’s likely to be a source of contamination and frustration. Even if you really want to work through the whole process, it’s the second skill to learn, after you’ve succeeded a few times (and probably failed a few times) with pre-prepared media.

Best for for bulk plates
This is enough for 150 plus agar plates, making it much less expensive than pre-poured plates. It does take some work though so if you are just getting started and/or aren't able to create a sterile environment, you're still better off buying the plates that are ready to go. You will need an autoclave. I used it for working with mushroom mycelium and it worked great for me. I would recommend.
