I absolutely love this book! It is so perfect for anyone looking to get crafty or start a new hobby. It is easy to understand and explains a lot about the properties of different types of wood that are common in carving. Also, Celina gives you the recipes for several projects with detailed instructions and steps, as well as providing templates for each of the suggested carvings. You don't have to know anything about the trade to get started! It is also the perfect book to give as a gift!

I had taken a wood shop class with Celina Muire in Austin recently. She taught me, someone with zero wood working experience, how to build a beautiful bench that’s now an accent table in my home. So I was very excited to read this book! It’s easy to understand, and lays out which steps to take. And she gives a lot of information about types of wood and which tools you will need, which I appreciated. Now I want to make all of the 12 projects she lines out! I think I’ll start with the dessert spoons first....

Beautiful photographs and easy to follow instructions. Nice for a beginner.

Someone gave this book a 1 star rating, saying it was only suitable for beginners...the title 12 beautiful projects for beginners might just be a give away there. Perhaps this individual shouldn't be allowed to use sharp tools.The book is magnificent; beautiful color photos and written with a delightful sense of humour. I'm not a beginner but found considerable inspiration from Celina. Highly recommended.

Beautiful book, nicely put together, almost feels earthy.For someone starting wood carving, it's a great read and simple to follow instructions.
