Learning Resources Fraction Formula Game

It's nice to see an educational game that is actually a reasonably fun game - my five year very much likes playing it and I enjoy it more than many other games aimed at that age group. It's other two big advantages as far as I am concerned is that each round is quite short (we just play single rounds and don't do the scoring at the moment) which is quite useful and my three year can also play without it interfering with the game for my five year old. I also enjoy the fact that it's a very different style of game from other games we have.Each player has a cylinder and each turn you can choose to play or stick. Like in blackjack, once you stick you don't have any more turns. If you play, you take a card from the pile which has a fraction written on it. You then take the corresponding fraction piece and put it in your cylinder. The winner is the person who gets closest to 1 without going over. Occasionally, it's not obvious who has won and the adult has to figure it out, but that is fairly rare.Educationally, I think the main thing that my five year old has got out of it has possibly been actually playing with the pieces outside the game itself - he's spent time working out that certain fractions are the same. All the fractions have a numerator of 1 so it's a little bit limited from an educational sense, but it's fun and it's good for general familiarity with the concept of fractions.

This set is made of high quality materials with a decent amount of weight to the pieces. My 5 year olds enjoyed playing and learnt what fractions were. This really helps them to visualize. Recommended purchase for 5 to 10 year olds

Best for 2nd or 3rd grade when introducing fractional parts. Yes, the game does require that you use different fractions to make a whole, but you don't actually need to know anything about common denominators or adding or subtraction from one whole to play the game. You can add that in to make it more suited for 4th or 5th grade. The game was easy enough that my 1st grade daughter with some support could play. Cute, science theme and the kids liked the pieces.

Un jeu qui se joue en famille (4 Max). Très facile pour les plus jeunes car les cartes ont la même couleur que la fraction à sélectionner. Le but du jeu? Ne pas dépasser la ligne de l’entier et arriver sur la ligne (entier). Ce que j’aime du jeu c’est qu’il peut être utilisé comme matériel de manipulation pour représenter des fractions, travailler les fractions équivalentes et les opérations sur les fractions. Le matériel est très bien fait et j’en achèterais un aussi pour ma classe!

Ein ganz ganz tolles Spiel zum erlernen von Mengen und als kleiner Einstieg in die Bruchrechnung.... Auch mein sechsjähriger hat schon Spaß.... Im Prinzip ist es ja nur zuordnen und früh genug erkennen wann es genug ist. Aber auch was ein Halbes oder ein Ganzes oder ein Viertel ist, ist gut zu verstehen
