Better than my $300 megaboom
I have a few wireless speakers. I have a mega boom, some echos, and some others. If you want a small speaker that’s easy to travel with, waterproof, bass, and sound quality without spending too much money this is for you.Items to consider-bass. You really don’t want too much bass in a little unit such as this. If you have too much bass the unit will litterally bounce on a table giving distortion. It doesn’t take much, but it’s a problem with one of my other speakers.-Be realistic. In speakers at this size range you have to be realistic with what you are looking for. I read some of the bad reviews prior to purchasing about sound quality, but every speaker get blasted for this. You would think you are buying a $1000 unit with the way sound snobs are reviewing it. The sound in this little guy is arguably better than my megaboom and came at half the size and a quarter of the price.-you can easily connect 2This is An amazing feature. No matter how loud we cranked up the megaboom it would hardly cover our pool area. We tested connecting 2 in our backyard and we were amazed. With plenty of Volume to spare we had more music coverage and the overall volume level was lower.... great for not offending the neighbors. This guy is a great buy.

!!7/31 UPDATED REVIEW: Anker Saves the Day!! The "Bass-up" and left the Soundcore party. A rare and shocking dud from Anker..
!! REVIEW UPDATE 7/30!!A man needs to admit when he's wrong- and I was and am admitting it fully. After writing my original review Anker's amazing customer service team contacted me. Most companies would typically fire off a generic form letter apologizing for your disappointment in their product and offer a refund-NOT ANKER!!I received a well crafted, extremely professional letter discussing every single issue I brought up in my review-responses crafted by the individual teams responsible for the development of the Soundcore Motion Q. It turns out my device did have a faulty Bluetooth receiver that created a crackle/pop at random intervals. Luckily Anker explained that when rolling out new products that they are produced in small batches. This limits issues in manufacturing to a small handful of devices and allows Anker to keep a tight grip on quality control and product improvements.I also learned in speaking with Anker's incredibly competent customer service team I learned that the Motion Q was not intended to be a follow up or improvement to their earlier Soundcore line-but an evolution. I assumed based on the higher price point, increased power and improved IPx rating that the Motion Q was a follow up to Ankers Soundcore 2, the "Gold Standard" of portable Bluetooth speakers. It is not, and I was wrong. You know what they say about assuming...don't do it. IF YOU ARE LOOKING FOR A POWERFUL, CLEAR, WELL BALANCED PORTABLE BLUETOOTH SPEAKER THE MOTION Q IS YOUR SPEAKER.I assumed with the Motion Q sharing the Soundcore name (and legacy features found in the original line) that the Motion Q would be a more powerful Soundcore 2 in a new form factor. It isn't.The Motion Q is Ankers effort to expand the Soundcore line with speakers that are tailored to different listeners and users. Not everyone is a fan of the Soundcore 2's "warm/rich" sound profile that spotlights Ankers ability to craft impressively low frequencies in a surprisingly small form factor. The Motion Q however, focuses on producing the most accurate, clear and balanced performance that some users look for in a speaker. As I learned - The ACTUAL successor to the Legendary Soundcore 2 is the SOUNDCORE BOOST. Anker was kind enough to replace my Motion Q with the Soundcore Boost as they were aware that was the listening experience I was expecting from the purchase of the Motion Q.I made the wrong choice based on an assumption-and Anker went above and beyond to make sure I was paired with the correct product. Not many companies will go this far for their customers these days- but Anker did.In doing so, they further cemented my commitment and loyalty as a longtime Anker customer. So, if you are in the market for a near bulletproof speaker that looks amazing and is shocking clear- look no further than the Motion Q. But if you are looking for the evolutionary following to the Soundcore 2-the SOUNDCORE BOOST is your device. Thanks to Anker's Customer Service Team for taking the time to address my issues and offer a solution few other companies would go out on a limb and offer further proving Anker is not your average company.*Original Review*: As a longtime Anker customer/fan I've watched courtside the evolution of Anker from a company known for it's high quality USB Cords, Chargers and External Battery Packs slowly evolve into a Technological Powerhouse.First Launching an incredible line of portable speakers known for providing an unmatched level of performance for the pricepoint and footprint. The Original Soundcore line put the major brands on notice and set the benchmark for what is possible when a company focuses on specific products to the point of mastery. That's why it is so incredibly surprising and ultimately disappointing to find out the fanfare for the long awaited updated and expanded New Soundcore lineup fall short of their previous line bearing the same name.Since the introduction of Ankers original line of portable speakers the market took notice of the overwhelming attention Ankers products have garnered and has scrambled to claw back market share ever since. But during that period a host of companies have turned up to the party bringing worthy competition to what has been called "The Best Bluetooth Speaker on the Market" by scores of magazines, tech blogs, and media outlets-The Anker Soundcore 2.That brings us to the Soundcore Motion Q. When Anker announced new Soundcore speakers there was a collective gasp of excitement across the internet. How on earth could they top a speaker that to this day hundreds of people stare at daily with an uncomfortably large and involuntary smile as they try to comprehend what magic/voodoo/alien technology was utilized to produce the Soundcore 2?!It truly pains me to say this but-They couldn't, and didn't.The Soundcore Motion Q follows the current market trend of obtaining an ever increasing IPX Rating and focuses on the esthetic experience with soft touch fabric over a solid matte plastic base. The first foreshaowing of reality should have been the lack of any silicone footings to isolate the all but guaranteed sonic experience of which fables are crafted. I was too distracted at picked fibers that had been snagged or pulled during manufacturing or shipment process along with visible "pilling" of fibers around the top of the speaker leaving it looking like a messy old sweater. I was able to push most pulls in the fabric back into the weave with a stainless steel dental pick. With mild to moderate handling this material will be trashed in short order. If you are the type of person that likes to throw your devices in a school backpack/messenger bag/purse often-expect for your device to fair poorly. The overall presentation was to the point that it was somewhat underwhelming. I was willing to overlook the visual distractions and perceived quality flaws once I heard that sweet, sweet all new Anker Soundcore performance.Pairing was quick and drama free save for a strange "Pop and Crackle" that presented itself on multiple occasions before queuing up the first song. With music now streaming to the device I set volumes and anxiously await what was sure to be an amazing performance. While waiting for the "hook" of the first song to drop and put on display the Motion Q's pedigree-it never came. The highs were sharp, Mids were clear but the lower 1/3 of the song was nowhere to be found. I fumbled around the device thinking I had failed to activate something or had touched something that had prevented the lower frequency notes from being represented. Then it hit me. The lack of Silicone or buffer material on the bottom of the device to limit movement generated by vibrations of the lower frequency notes. There was none. No indentations or reference that ther should have been either.I was crushed.I shuffled through a dozen songs trying to coax the Motion Q into an Anker level performance. I was baffled how a company with such an amazing track record not only for performance but unparalleled customer experience had possibly missed the mark- and missed it so badly. The Motion Q's Dual 8w drivers-while able to pump out impressive volumes strain to single handedly produce all three ranges they are tasked with. While they are straining to perform both treble and midrange duties they are unable to respond quick enough to provide any low end frequencies. This leaves songs sounding as if 1/3 of it has been completely neutered from the performance. This is something that could have been solved by the inclusion of a tweeter to offload demand from the drivers that in this case are just tasked with too much to do. Without the majority of lower frequencies being created it leaves little for the passive radiators to do. At full volume you can clearly hear the highs and mids get pulled back while the driver attempts to render lower registers. This put on in full display something unheard of in previous Anker products: Distortion. With the complete loss of 1/3 of every single performance, the lack of overall fidelity and the less than Anker Level of aesthetic presentation due to a unfortunate use of the incorrect quality/grade of textile product that shrouds 3/4 of the exterior surface of the speaker-the verdict was in, and it wasn't good. It definitely wasn't how I expected this experience to end.I have never once been let down or disppointed in an Anker purchase. I honestly couldn't wrap my head around it. I've never had to send an Anker product back, never had one fail and have always felt like I had sold a Premium product. The hours, weeks, months, years of effort put into Anker's products have always been on full display. With every use you knew you were using a product of the highest caliber and quality.Sadly, that isn't the case in regards to the Anker Soundcore Motion Q. For the higher price point there are currently a small army of speaker available, in most all cases below the price of the Soundcore Motion Q. Most are almost half the price and far surpass the performance and quality of the Motion Q in its current incarnation. Some of these examples are shown in the included photo. When your companies 3w micro speaker (Anker's Pocket Bluetooth Speaker A7910 as shown in photo) has more overall fidelity and better low frequency response performance than your pricey new fuzzy 16w waterproof show pony- it may be time to redouble your efforts to take what you've learned and mastered in The Soundcore /Soundcore 2 and meticulously craft a worthy successor to carry the Anker name.Avoid the Motion Q in its current incarnation and grab yourself the (still) undisputed champion and reigning king of Bluetooth speakers on a budget, The Anker Soundcore 2. You will be much happier. If waterproof rating is an issue: The Aomais Ball (15w) (Pictured) is a awesome option. if you are a bass addict and don't swim with your speakers: The Tronsmart Element 6 (25w) (Pictured) is an outstanding choice that will have you smiling from ear to happy ear.

Terrific balance of power and portability.
I was genuinely surprisrised when I fired this little guy up. I have an Anker Soundcore Mini, which is impressive in its own right, but the Motion Q is absolutely the better speaker. One area where I’ve been disappointed with a lot of Bluetooth speakers is that the treble ends up sounding clipped at the higher frequencies. I was expecting the same thing here, but it actually has some of the best high end response I’ve heard from Bluetooth speakers, including some that cost four times as much. In fact, this compares favorably to my standard speaker, the UE Boom 2.While Anker touts the extra bass of this speaker, I can’t say I noticed much extra. However, I found the sound balanced and - fortunately - it lacked the muddiness found in a lot of other Bluetooth speakers that promise extra bass. So yeah, this isn’t going to blow away something three times its size, but I think the balance is very good for everything but very bass-heavy music.Overall I’m quite impressed. If you’re looking at speakers in the $30-$70 range, you should absolutely consider this. If you ever find this on sale, do yourself a favor a get it. I’m seriously considering picking up a second so I can try out pairing them for a true stereo experience. The picture shows the relative sizes of the Anker Soundcore mini, the Soundcore Motion Q (reviewed), and the UE Boom 2 on a piece of 8.5"x11" piece of paper.

AMAZING!!
WOW!! I took a risk ordering this speaker, as there was no reviews (youtube) as it had only just realised. But as with most Anker products, this has surpassed my expectations. It has a solid full sound, slighty v shaped. But i like that kind of tuning. It has a good dsp, that lets the speaker have bass at a low volume, and backs it off at max volume. Talking off volume, this thing cranks it out. And is ideal for bbq's ext. Well done Anker, once again you have shown that you do not need to spend >£100 for a bluetooth speaker.

Great sound but faulty aux port
Lovely little speaker. Absolutely love the design and the sound through Bluetooth is superb for such a small speaker. Sadly, I prefer to connect via auxiliary as bluetooth can be flaky at times and it's just sat on my office desk so I can leave it plugged into my laptop at all times. As I'm typing the sound is crackly as the aux port is causing interference. Tried swapping the cable and plugging into different sources but the problem persists. Big shame as the price point is perfect for what I need.**EDIT** Outstanding support from Anker. They have sent me a replacement and it is great. A+My only criticism is that you cannot use the TWP through the auxiliary port. It only works if you are using Bluetooth.

Big booming sound
The discounted price of £32.99 was the deciding factor for me as I had been thinking about a purchase for some time. I bought a soundcore mini some months ago and it's great. However, the additional power in this speaker is very noticeable by comparison. It has a rounded sound with plenty of bass and is excellent for spoken word. Haven't yet considered a second motion Q for stereo but that may be on the cards. You won't go wrong with this speaker, it's a real quality item and outstanding at this price.
