Taylor Digital Eco-Friendly Bamboo Kitchen Food Scale, 15 Pound Capacity, Natural

Wow, we impressed with the Taylor Digital Eco-Friendly Bamboo Kitchen Food Scale. What caught our eye was the large platform for placing the item to be weighed. Our previous scale has a 5” circle where the Taylor has huge rectangular 7.25” x 7.5” bamboo platform. So you may ask why does this matter? Well, this large platform holds our large mixing bowl and the screen is still visible. The screen is bright and easy to read. We also like that it displays in pounds and ounces, not pounds and a decimal place. Hmmm, how many oz is 1.82 lbs? The scale can also weigh in grams, fluid oz and milliliters. Don’t get confused and use the oz setting for weighing dry goods. It’s for measuring fluid oz. There is also a tare function for zeroing out the weight of the bowl or plate you place on top before you add your food. The scale is also high capacity, and will weigh up to 15 lbs! The instructions mention to clean the scale with a soft slightly damp cloth. You can also use a mild soap to give it a good cleaning after weighing items like meats etc. We are looking forward to baking later this week as we always weigh out all our ingredients. We recommend this Taylor scale for anyone serious about weighing ingredients or other items around the home.

This is a good looking, compact scale that appears to be quite accurate. Many of these compact scales only weigh up to 11 lbs.CONS: • None that I can identifyACCURACY:I weighed several objects from 5 oz to 13 lbs, and compared the results with a name-brand Pelouze PS20DL digital postal scale. This Taylor 15 lb scale matched the readings from the Pelouze scale within 0.6 oz. The Taylor scale read a little higher than the Pelouse for higher weights. I have no idea whether either scale is the more “correct’”, but matching within 0.6 oz tells me that they are probably both very good. I have a cheaper food scale, which does work really nicely. However, this one is much larger and has a really nice lit up easy read screen. The bowl fits comfortably on it without blocking the screen. The style is very sleek and modern. It is however much more expensive than my little cheap one and they do the same thing. I think if I had vision issues I would pay the difference for this one, but otherwise it just is a bit expensive.

We have a different kitchen scale that, while useful, isn't super precise and takes some time to "catch up" with a reading when adding smaller amounts of weight to it. This is usually fine, but when I make beeswax products that require a lot of tiny measurements, I was getting frustrated with having to mess around with my materials so much.This scale is super responsive and almost instantaneous in readouts. It can handle a fair bit of weight, too, which is convenient.Also, the bamboo top is easy to wipe up in case of spills. (Though I'm not sure I'd place some things directly on the bamboo, like raw meats, for example. That's where the tare function comes in handy.)And finally, I really do like that it's run on everyday, AAA batteries and that I don't have to charge it nor have to go out and find/buy special button batteries. (It even came with a set!)

I use a kitchen scale every single day as I bake and cook a lot. A scale is a great way to simplify and create more consistency in baking since you can just shake or scoop your ingredients in without dirtying up a bunch of measuring cups and spoons. I've had a little $15 basic one for years and have wanted to upgrade to something that can handle a bit more weight and size, and I really like this one so far! It can take about 25% more weight than my previous one, which is enough to handle a big bowl of bread dough or heavy liquids. It's very sensitive to touch, almost too much, but some of that is just me getting used to it. :)

I have become much more attentive and aggressive with my meal planning and weight loss journey. I am really trying to eat properly for my health concerns and have really started label reading and meal planning. The one thing I don’t have in my tool kit is a kitchen scale. This is certainly a major step up to what are used in the 90s.Out of the box it’s very sleek and design in the bamboo is very functional and matches with any kitchen. To simple buttons. I really appreciate the ability to switch between unit conversions. Digital display is easy to read. Bamboo weight plate is easy to clean between uses. Easy to follow step-by-step instructions. Well-made and feels very durable.I am definitely impressed and would absolutely recommend it.

I got this item to replace a unit that was harder to read, especially when measuring something in a bowl. This unit has a nice surface area, and I love the bamboo board because it feels more "kitchen-y" instead of "electronic-y." At first, I was concerned because there was no dedicated switch to set the default unit of measure, but thankfully, it just remembers what you had it set on previously. The display is bright and easy to read. I'm super happy with this.

The plate on this scale is large which is great for larger items. If works quickly and accurately. It's easy to reset tare and change between units of measurement. The scale is sturdy. It looks very nice and high end. Great design!
