NorthernHurricane Oil Cooler with Cooling Fan

Great radiator. Powerful fan for it's size.
I almost gave this review 5 stars because the customer support was exceptional, the product I received was exactly as they discribed, and I was shocked with how much air that little fan moves through the cooler. It's a great product. My only concern is the mounting hardware that fastens the fan to the cooler. It's sufficient for a car or truck but mine is going on a motorcycle. ... lots of vibration. I just didn't have much faith in 4 thin rods feeding through the cooler fins that loosely fit in the fans bolt holes. No worries, though. The cooler has mounting tabs that I was able to make a custom bracket for. So, because I had to make a bracket, 4 stars. If I used this product as it was likely intended, 5 stars. :)

Worked for me ...
I have a small space available in my car for an oil cooler and it fits fine. The motor is 650cc so it should be good to keep the oil temperature in check and add a little to the oil volume. When the rest of the required parts for my installation arrive, I'll add to the review ...More ... it took a while to chase all the leaks down and seal them I took some temperature measurements today for reference, your situation may be different. AN8 fittings, 10 feet of 1/2" hydraulic hose, Oil 0W-20 full synthetic. Measurements taken idling in the driveway.Ambient Temperature 40 degrees FElectric Fan ONTemp at engine head 185 degrees FTemp at remote mounted oil filter 157 degrees FTemp at Oil cooler inlet 140 degrees FTemp at Oil cooler outlet 106 degrees FThe temp through the hoses I think would equalize under engine loaded condition after a while of running. The temperature under these conditions across the cooler is 34 degrees I suspect while running hard it would be greater (ram air velocity higher and oil flow higher). I installed a temperature sensor to turn on the fan at 170 degrees on the cooler outlet. Now during the winter here, I covered 2/3 of the cooler face with foam which I will remove for summer driving.

Pretty simple really
If you need a set of instructions then don't by this one. Pretty simple really. Mounted as an engine oil cooler on my RZR 4 800. Added a 160 degree switch. RZR was constantly cycling fan (on 200, off 180). For the most part on a warm day (upper 90's) engine ran at constant 190 degrees and rarely cycled fan. I bent some 1/8 x 3/4 flat strap for brackets and mounted the whole thing on rubber. Seems to be working great. I just bought a second one to install in my RZR 2 seater. You can purchase a larger cooler and fan for less money, problem is, no room to install. Also, you could just buy a cooler and mount in front of the radiator. I don't like running hoses that far and also, in the winter time I doubt I'll need much oil cooling. This seemed best for my purpose.

Not overly impressed
Pretty small, doubt it can transfer heat well enough to be worthwhile.
