Learning Mastercam X Mill Step by Step in 2D by James Valentino (1-Jan-2006) Paperback

Introduction to CAD-CAM
This is a large (11" x 8½")softback book, written in an easy to follow manner and is crammed from cover to cover with numerous drawings, screendumps and tables. It is ideal for a "learner". For a specialised subject, it reasonably priced for a 500-odd page book, BUT: The book does have three major faults:1. The cover is too flimsy to justify its use as a much-handled reference book. My copy (brand new) already had dog-eared corners to the cover on arrival.2. The pagination is based on chapters rather than running from start to finish. (The estimate of 500 pages is based on 200 pages = 1 cm and the book is 2.5 cm thick).3. The index appears to have been compiled by someone having a panic attack: Numerous topics have been omitted from the index. This is not for lack of space: two and a half sides of white space follow the index, which covers two and a quarter sides. Amongst the topics omitted from the index are the keywords: "Engraving" "Text" "Letters" "Toolpath" "G-code" -to name a few.In conclusion, "Would I recommend the book?" Yes! It's a good book, but beware the poor index and the flimsy cover. (Publisher- take note when you publish the next edition!)

hard at first
At first the book was confusing. Once I understood the example on the pages was often before and after then I got it! Although I think I could write a better instruction book. I'd still buy it again.
