The Nor-Vise Concept is to position the hook on the centerline of rotation and then turn the hook rather than wrap hand over hand around the hook. A thread post, aligned with the center of rotation, permits material to be “turned” or “spun” onto the hook without the the tying thread being wrapped on at the same time. It is almost impossible to put a hook in the vise in such a way that the shank is NOT in line with the axis. And since the rotary barrel runs on two high quality sealed machine bearings, It doesn't just rotate, it spins. This spinning quality makes rotary tying a piece of cake. It also makes possible techniques that are impossible with other vises like speed dubbing, making dubbing brushes, and making reinforced herls. Precision ball bearing and heavy brass hubs enable the Nor-Vise to work like a spinning wheel for dubbing like you have never seen before. Perfectly shaped and textured bodies, with all dubbing material, can be created, without wax better, faster and much easier than by any other method. The Nor-Vise system will accommodate a variety of jaw designs that can be quickly and easily mounted onto the vise arbor. Although all four of the different configurations handle nearly any fly tying situation, from very tiny and delicate trout flies to large saltwater patterns, these different designs each excel in certain applications.
