I bought these after seeing Dr. Greger talk about their benefits on NutritionFacts.org. Apparently they have been shown convincingly in scientific studies to reduce acne! And they are very healthy to boot--very high in antioxidants.This is the second brand I have tried from Amazon, and these are definitely the better of the two. These are plumper, juicier, and fresher tasting. The other ones were a little dry and hard compared to these.Be warned that these are VERY tart. They are really tasty when added to oatmeal or pilaf, but on their own they are pucker-inducing for sure! I can eat about a tablespoon straight before my salivary glands can take no more! They taste kind of like a cranberry, but with a certain savory je ne sais quoi.As for the acne benefits, I am pretty sure they help. As a 30-something, I get the occasional PMS-induced pimple, and these seem to reduce the inflammation, number, and duration of any pimples that might pop up. I am back to order more and thought why not write a review!

These are amazing if you like sour fruits. They can be hard to find so I've been ordering here but you can find them in persian markets. These ones arrived nice and soft and not too dried out which is nice for snacking. I've gotten them very dried out before and those I usually soak in warm water and then cook with them in some rice or put in a salad. Highly recommend.

These berries are ok. They are not bright red, more like orange. I soaked some overnight and found that many were very discolored. The flavor is good, despite discoloration. They are soft and moist, almost waxy, which is totally fine. I was worried about getting debris, which I read about in reviews of other brands, but I didn't find any. The production date printed on the back is aug 2 2019. I received them on oct 6 2019. I would order these, but only in a pinch. I found a higher quality product that I will continue to order.Btw, berberine, an alkaloid that barberry and Oregon grapes have a lot of, protects dopaminergic neurons. I'm thankful to have access to barberries at all.

I always use barberries alot because I heard they are useful in treatment of acne and it is yummy too when you add it to your rice ! It is second time that I am buying Saffronia barberries and honestly the quality is good and they are fresh , it is not too much dry .

This was my first experience with barberries and I really love them. They are both tart and sweet, so if you just want sweet, these are not the ticket for you. For my taste buds, they are wonderful. I've seen comments on some barberry packages that there have been small stones in the bag and the berries weren't totally cleaned. Not my experience with this vendor. I've been eating them right out of the bag no problem.

I tried some of these from a friend who had ordered from the same company and they tasted great (tart) and dry. When I received my order I could tell there was something wrong with them. There was liquid (free) in the package and the taste was off (seemed spoiled). The berries had no tartness. Would not order from this company again, especially as there we are unable to return them (policy).

I bought these specifically to make Persian rice and various Middle Eastern pilavs. They are delicious, with a taste reminiscent of cranberry but with their own unique tartness. Wonderful addition to rice dishes. I have not tried to make a tea or use them otherwise as some of the reviews here indicate.

Great! Bought for my teen to try for acne treatment. He didn’t buy in because he didn’t like the taste, so we have been eating them and they taste great to us! They are an expensive product, but high quality.
