Understanding Selective Mutism: A Beginner's Guide

I’m really pleased to finally have an easy to read book about selective mutism that I can hand out to people. I like that it covers the relevant information in a practical way that can easily be applied. The fact that it is short and concise means that people are more likely to look through it which is exactly what I’ve needed!

As a newcomer to Selective Mutism, I found this guide so helpful. Very simple but practical advice. I purchased a copy for myself but will also be buying a copy to share with my daughter's key worker at nursery.

I purchased this book to help us explain to family, friends and teachers what selective mutism is. The book is short, but this is a good thing as any one who you might lend it to will hopefully read it. It's also concise and gets the main points of the subject across. I nearly purchased one of the larger more in depth manuals that are available and glad I didn't as this book is really handy if you're going into a meeting with a school as a quick and easy reference book. It's a good little book written by a lady who knows her stuff!

This book is so informative and easy to understand. I purchased one to share with family and friends and one for my daughters school. Explains so well what SM is and how family can interact correctly with my daughter. Just a nice size book to hand round with all the information needed to understand and help support people with this anxiety disorder.

A concise book, easy to read, and very to the point. Gives an understanding of the struggles of children with SM and ideas how to start help them. It's a short guide so very appropriate to give to family, teachers and other care givers without overwhelming them and putting them off learning how they can help the child.

Amazing guide, especially for teachers and other professionals who come into contact with your child. Ive even given it to family members so they can also understand the basics for communicating with my child.
