I would recommend this book if you are planning to do more ...
Very detailed information on the ecology of the barrier islands off the southern coast. The illustrations and appendices were very well done. This book covered St. Simons island,Jekyll island and Sapelo. I would recommend this book if you are planning to do more than golf on your barrier island vacation. I particularly enjoyed learning about the differences between the northern barrier islands off the Carolina coast and the Georgia barrier islands.I have vacationed many years on the Outer Banks of North Carolina and I look forward to exploring the Georgia barrier islands as well.

More than acceptable
Going on a guided trip to Jekyll Island and environs and this is the one book recommended by the tour guide. It looks very detailed with an extensive depiction of local flora and fauna. One teensy criticism - I wish it had been color photographs instead of black and white ink drawing. I'm pretty sure the flowers are not in black and white. I may update this review after I come back from this trip in late May. Be patient!. BTW,the book was described by the vendor as in "acceptable" condition. I would rate it "Nearly New"

Excellent resource. While traveling in this area
Excellent resource. While traveling in this area, I discovered other guides by this author focusing on various aspects of the barrier islands on the east coast. Wish I had been aware of them before exploring the region; I would have purchased those as well.
