Verizon Wireless LTE USBModem 551L-4G
I have nothing to compare it to, but it worked like a charm out in the middle of Nowhereville in Texas! MY only problem was I forgot how to activate it on my second trip, and because I had no phone and no computer I could not contact Verizon for help! So... I was up the proverbial creek without a paddle. I felt very stupid when I went back to Verizon to tell them I couldn't remember- geez, it really WAS easy. I'm just techno-challenged I guess! Even so, I was able to use it in subsequent trips without a hitch!I would strongly recommend this product to anyone wanting a wireless modem for travel. I suppose it would be just as good for at-home use, I just never used it for that.Verizon Wireless 4G LTE USB Modem 551L

Just don't, there are much better products out there.
The software support on mac is no where near up to date, verizon support is clueless how to get the serial bus adapter connected the mac detects, their access manager software doesn't work on anything high than the models stated on the vzam.net website (wish i knew that before purchase - I wouldn't have even bothered). Verizon support escalations beyond tier 1 have not yet resolved this. Will likely be returning this for money back.

Works slowly on Linux
It took a lot of wrestling to get the micro-sim from Verizon to get it to plug into this card which uses nano-sim. (Mostly spent that time getting the micro sim out after accidentally installing it without an adaptor tray.)But after that, Linux just detected the modem as a network device and it connected just fine. (Maybe you have to find the right APN by googling, but top results basically had the answer in bold letters)The only problem I have is that it’s about one fifth the speed of the performance of an iPad using the same sim. So instead of 50 Mbps, I’d get 10 Mbps. This used to be really fast but now it’s noticeably slow. Hard to remember the last time when pieces of a webpage gradually rendered over several seconds… until I saw it again using this modem.Definitely works very easily, but performance is very very slow compared to what’s normal in 2021.

These still have good value
Made my own version of a mifi hotspot with this and a little portable WAP from TPLink. What is nice about the combo, over something like a netgear jetpack or similar battery operated product, is that not having a battery mean it can operate for months on end with no user attention needed. Just threw a jetpack SIM card in there, hooked it up to PC first to make sure it worked and was connected, then attached it to the miniWAP and logged into that to make sure it recognized the USB modem, and it was up and running. Worked much better in terms of reception than jetpack too.

Works perfect for our Chromebook
We have an older air card that is not supported with our new Chromebook and so after calling Verizon, we were told that since we were under contract, we could not upgrade our old air card for another year. We could however purchase this model and then call them back to set up getting a new SIM card and also to transfer service to the new air card, blah, blah, blah. SO, I ordered this model and not only did it arrive much sooner than expected, but all I did was pop the SIM card out of the old air card and put it in the this new model and then connect to the Chromebook and vuala, worked perfectly!

Worthless for use in a moving car, and Verizon is a terrible outfit to deal with.
I bought this for a storm chasing trip. It worked very poorly. Every time a connection dropped due to signal loss as we were driving, I had to *manually* reconnect. Meanwhile, my cell phone had no trouble reconnecting automatically. Also, Verizon Technical "Support" was useless. First of all, Verizon *always* tells you that "due to unexpected call volume..." you have to wait, which is nonsense. It seems designed just to keep you from calling. At one point, I had to wait 45 minutes before I gave up - 45 minutes while I was on the road. The *only* reason I put up with Verizon is that, for my purpose of storm chasing, they have better coverage. Otherwise, I'd drop them and look for someone who cares about their customers.

A high quality replacement.
Much cheaper than going through the store to receive a replacement, unit is identical to the original unit it replaced, is very high quality and works great. This unit was very easy to set up once we swapped the sim card and was up and running in no time. A high quality replacement.

Was not as expected
There was no cd for the program and no sim card with it al,so to me it is a piece of junk When I buy something,I expect to more or less to plug and play, and yes I am a Verizon customer and when I got my old USB727 and had it for years and is a 3G and had absolutely no problems what so ever and did not have to contact Verizon to get connected what so ever.To say the least i am disgusted!
