Sound + Vision is a collection spanning four decades, covering the 21 albums from Space Oddity through to Buddha Of Surburbia. It's a rich survey of David Bowie's many musical lives offering a generous helping of hits, an intriguing dip into archives, classic album tracks and long lost B-sides, explosive live recordings, soundtrack recordings and remixes. Sound + Vision also documents Bowie's ever-onward work aesthetic. From Dylan inspired folkie (‘The Wild-Eyed Boy From Freecloud') to the hard-rocking hero of grunge legends Nirvana (‘The Man Who Sold The World'); from Glam Rock superstar (‘Ziggy Stardust') to white soul pioneer (‘Young Americans'); electronica trailblazer (‘Warszawa') to first New Romantic (‘Ashes To Ashes'); dancefloor deity (‘Modern Love') to high endurance 90s legend (‘Jump They Say'). He's been there - and back again - often before anyone else has· 4CD fatpack, slipcase and 64 page booklet

Just for Heroes
This is the 2nd version of the Sound + Vision box set. Virgin Records signed Bowie and took what Rykodisc attempted to do and made it better. I was sold on this when I saw it included "Heroes" in German. However, there are many more hidden gems in this treasue chest. Most of the hits are included in one form or another and there are outake's and a few unreleased live songs. I would have to say this is for the collectors but it is also a great collection for the curious fan. A bit pricey as opposed to his "Bowie Best Of" on Virgin but I had to have this collection as well. Well written and photographed booklet included. Full size boklet not the tiny CD insert you can never read. Also included are a poster of the CD cover and 2 frameable pictures. Well put together box set and a great addition to any Bowie collection.

Good selection. This or Nothing Has Changed are the best compilations for him I think...
I like this. A good place for people to start perhaps. I got mine brand new sealed and my disc 4 doesn't work/read….anyone else? The release itself though has what you would want and likely stuff people don't…..I mean a selling point for me is the german version of Heros but how many others want that? I like that Tin Machine was included, material from both albums ( I can't listen to it as it is on the 4th disc) and up to a few things from "Buddha" which is a major turning point for him. Worth it for absolute beginners or the total completist.

I ended up purchasing a Best of David Bowie CD for $9
This compilation has several of Bowie's most famous tracks from Ziggy Stardust & The Spiders From Mars through the Tonight album such as "Rebel Rebel", "Changes", "Cracked Actor", "Space Oddity" & "Suffragette City" as well as a surprise or two, such as "Helden" which is the German version of "Heroes". There are a few songs that didn't make it into the Sound + Vision compilation: "Fame", "Golden Years", "The Jean Genie", "Fashion" and, surprisingly, "Heroes", among others. I ended up purchasing a Best of David Bowie CD for $9.00 to get those and other tracks. You also won't find anything from the Labyrinth soundtrack. In all, I would say that this is a pretty comprehensive collection and definitely worth the money.

Using Sound and Vision: Disc 4
This has the look of a nice package box set and certainly got a lot of attention upon its release. Today, it's a bit of a curiosity in relation to Bowie's catalog. There are some odd rarities on here for collectors, and then just a lot of tracks from his albums. For me, the only disc that I really find very good to listen to straight through is Disc 4, perhaps because it has longer segments of cohesive material. After taking two of the best tracks from Tonight and Never Let Me Down, you get extended selections from the Tin Machine albums and a handful of tracks from Black Tie, White Noise and Buddha of Suburbia, including some non-album mixes. This is some very underrated stuff! This disc makes a great introduction for those who had overlooked this era of Bowie's career, and certainly many fans have. I'd suggest if you are interested in easing into this era of Bowie to start by downloading the entirety of Disc 4.

Never Enough Bowie
A brilliant collection of hits, outtakes, and oddities. A fair attempt at creating a career spa A fair attempt at creating a career spanning collection. However, though Bowie had a genius for brevity with his lyrics, it does not suit a career compilation. As wonderfull as this is, at the very least it has to be coupled with "Nothing Has Changed." A worthwhile addition for completists too,
