puts a shine on the nail like no polish or buffer I've ever seen
I got this not knowing what it would do, thinking it might work to shine my artificial nails when they get dull - however it did not work for that purpose, so I was going to toss it, but held back because my mother was coming for a visit and she has plain natural nails, so I figured I'd let her try it out. She basically fell in love with it from the first nail - suddenly the plain natural nail became shiny like it too was made of glass; the nails really shine in a way that is different than the shine of a clear coat of nail polish - they catch the light like they are made of hard glass or a those rocks that they process through a tumbler to make smooth and rounded and lustrous - it's hard to describe unless you see it in person. She commented on how in the past it would take an hour with the multi-piece buffing system she had bought in the past at malls, where you buff with progressively finer buffers until you end with a shammy type piece. Now, in contrast, this glass shiner barely takes any time or effort and in just a few minutes right before you eyes your nail starts to glint like a diamond compared to the other nails. Before she finished her visit and packed up to leave a week later, after we had both marveled all week long at her shiny nails, I decided to try buffing just the nail on my big toe, since I have no nail polish or anything on my toe nails, and for days after I'd find myself catching sight of my one shiny toe nail out of the corner of my eye; I'd be thinking: "what is shining?" - and there it was - my glass-diamond-like shiny toenail, and all my other dull toenails beside it, whether wet or dry, or walking on the beach, that toe nail was a marvel.Incredible that I was ready to toss it, and would have if my mother hadn't been visiting, so that we discovered its magical properties of transformation. On the other hand, there definitely seems to be a difference in the nails of different people. A few days after my mother had shined her nails, my sister arrived to join us - and we had her sit down and advised her to prepare to be amazed. I took the glass shiner to her nail, blew away the dust and ..... it was blah. Hardly any different than before we shined it. I tried again, thinking I must not have done enough, or in the right direction etc., but no - her nail did not transform like my mother's and mine. So in the words of the WAY TOO OVERUSED PHRASE I see on these Amazon reviews: "your mileage may vary."

Great shiny nails in a few minutes.
My first time filing with this, I was really impressed that it buffed and polished all on one side. That is the uniqueness that glass nano file has compared to the buffer blocks that need step 1 through 6 to get a mirror shine. You don’t have to go through all those steps to get a super shine with the glass file. What I love about it:It is very fast to buffer and polish the nails to a glass like reflection on my nails. I had my toenails glossy in 5 minutes. It is small and very easy to store. I don’t accidentally hit my other fingers when buffing because the file is small. This file will smooth the edges of my nails after I trim them. It doesn’t hurt or irritate my skin when I buff and polish my nails. It is much easier to buff and polish my toes with the glass file then the buffer blocks because the glass file is smaller and thinner. The file is smooth, very durable and feels good in my hands. The nail file case is nice and protected it from the heavier items in shipping.Pros and cons compared to buffer blocks:Pros: It is much faster to get a glass shine on your nails that lasts for days. No need for step 1 through 6 like the buffer block. The glass nail file will last me many years compared to the buffer blocks that need replacing after a month or so.Cons: Since the glass file is a buffer and polisher all in one there will be tiny scratches randomly on the nail compared to the mirror smooth reflection of buffer blocks after step 6. But in my opinion the scratches are tiny enough that if you are not analyzing your finger nails up close for flaws it won’t matter, all you will see is the shine from a far. With trial and error… I got some nicks and scratches on my nails when I first tried the glass file from the edge of the glass file and some scratches from repeating filing hard in the same spot. I used the buffer block smooth them out since they were stubbornly in and once it was semi smooth I tried again with the glass file and got a smooth shine to my nailsOver all, what makes this great is it is a time saver and very durable. I am sure that as I use it more there will be less scratches and more mirror like reflection on my nails. While I did get a mirror like reflection with the buffer block, over an hour later it faded and looked similar to the glass nail file’s polish that I did the day before. I am pretty impressed with the glass like reflection I got from the glass file.

Great for buffing nail edges to avoid snagging
I bought this to buff the edges of my nails which it’s great for. It gets them very smooth, no snags. I don’t normally buff the top of my nail plate as that compromises the integrity of the nail but I tried it on some areas that were scratched up from a crappy peel off base coat and it didn’t do a great job of getting rid of the damage or leaving a shine. I tried it out buffing a toe nail to see the “glass effect,” it worked to an extent but it wasn’t great at evening the lateral ridges but I suppose a lower grit file would normally be used to even the nail before buffing it. It’s hard to get that shine across a curved nail plate as other reviewers have stated. This doesn’t bother me much as I bought this to buff the edges of my nails after filing so overall, I’m happy with this product and would recommend it and repurchase it. For this use.
