TROPICA - Dwarf Coffee (Coffea arabica nana) - 8 SeedsWorth knowing: As a pot or tub plant the Dwarf Coffea grows up to a height of 1,5 meters. Snow-white flowers emitting a scent of vanilla do appear after 3 years. The Dwarf Coffea is a self-pollinated plant and produces red coffee cherries, each cherry bearing 2 beans most of the time.Origin: The origin of the Dwarf Coffea presumably is Abbesses.Propagation: Seeds can be started indoors any time throughout the year. Leave the seeds to soak in water at room temperature for about 12 hours and place them half a centimetre deep in moist seed starting soil. With temperatures between 22° and 25°C, the seeds should germinate after 3 to 4 weeks. It takes some time until the young leaves separate from the bean.Place / Light: A bright and airy place is ideal. An outdoor location is possible during summer as well.Care: A soil mixture of 3 parts humus soil to one part sand does best. Keep the soil evenly moist but avoid building up of water. Supply the plant with fertilizer every 3 weeks from April until September.Winter period: Do not fertilize from October on as the wood needs to ripen. Water sparingly during winter but do not allow the soil bale to dry out. Especially when placed in rooms with central heating, the plant should often be sprayed with soft water, so that the leaf margins do not dry out and turn brown in colour. Temperatures should not drop below 15°C.Bonsai Suitability: No
