HeiLSound HTH-Y Heil Handi Talkie Headset for Yaesu/Vertex Handheld Transceivers

Works great at half the price of the Yaesu. I do like Yaesu gear but for the savings??? Well made and the inline PTT works fine. Using with an FT-70D and it sure beats using the radio speaker if you want to listen and not disturb those around you. The ONLY negative and for me costing that last star is the plug fit. It seems to have a few "sweet Spots" and once plugged it needs to be rotated a bit until you hear the audio. Not a deal breaker at all for the savings but I wish it would work for whole 360 degrees. UPDATE... I am raising my star count to 5 as I really love this head set. To be true, it is an Aftermarket headset but a really good one for the money. As I and others have mentioned, the plug does not seat properly on the Yaesu FT-70D and a few other radios. However, with a razor blade and 60 seconds this problem can be corrected. With the blade, carefully trim off about 1/32 of an inch from the rubber plug at the very bottom where the rubber stops and the shaft starts. Hopefully that makes since.. If done properly the part you trim off will look like a tiny black donut. After it is removed the plug will insert completely and seat properly in the socket. Works great now!

The sound quality was horrible, so I returned it. On top of that, Gigaparts charged me a restocking fee. Nope, won’t do that again.

Super happy. Connection is solid. Online is LOuD. I haven’t had to put volume beyond level 3. Mic is really clear tx and extra is loud and clear. Very happy for this. Bob Heil is awesome

The first few times I used this - friends heard static.. but they finally 'broke in' and now they are great. Happy with the quality of the headphones!

Be ready to use a rubber band, or some other means, to keep the plug seated in a Yaesu FT-60 HT. This Heil plug (shown on the right in the image) has a band of metal at its base that needs to be ground off to be long enough to fully seat and clip in. The problem with the poor seating is that it keys the HT's microphone and can dead-key for an extended period -- bad news if on a 5K net, etc. Compared to a Yaesu-branded headset plug, which has no metal band at its base, you can clearly see how this headset's plug is too short.

Great audio! No alterations were required for use with either C4FM Yaesu radio I own.A friend ordered a kit for Yaesu a couple days after I began using mine. His required cutting at the plug. Go figure.
