A book on persuasion that doesn't sell itself!
Considering that the writer is an expert in the "science" of persuasion you'd expect her to be able to write in an enjoyable and compelling way. Think again. The lessons of this book are glaringly obvious and basic at best, and whilst that may not be a flaw (a lot of the best advice is basic and obvious after all) the fact that it has also been written in an utterly unengaging way made it pretty much unreadable for me.Despite its modest size this goes on the very small pile of books I couldn't bring myself to finish.

The best pocket guide.
I'm biased, but this is the best pocket guide to rhetoric out there. If you're a would-be writer, poet, lyricist, lawyer, politician or communicator in your gap year, no other book on rhetoric will teach you more tricks for less weight in your backpack than this little gem.
