These pumps last a handful of years. Ours was getting loud and tripping the 21 error. Replaced in 15 minutes and works great and is MUCH quieter. The washing machine is over 15 years old and this is the 4th replacement pump. Otherwise, it makes sense to fix the washer for a few bucks and a little time. YouTube will help you get it done.

Like all the others, my washer was not draining well. I cleaned the trap, which seemed to help but I still had errors when draining. To further diagnose before ordering this part, I removed the pump motor from the assembly (there is a catch tab to depress with a thin screwdriver before turning pump to release). The impeller of my motor was wobbly and seemed loose - which I found is a tell tale sign you need a new one (the motor will run, but won't pump effectively). I replaced my pump motor with this unit and the machine runs great and is so much quieter! Also, my unit came with a loose o-ring that looked like it fit over the motor, so I installed it and the pump wouldn't fit. Turns out there was already an o-ring installed on the motor that I didn't detect, and I was trying to install it with two. I removed the one I put on and it fit great and has no leaks - so beware, you may get a second o-ring as a spare - check to see if an o-ring is already on the unit.Tips: This is the time to clean out all of your hoses to get rid of the bad smell that front load washers sometimes get. I would also recommend replacing the drive belt at this time as this is a normal wear item, is $11, and will save you from a sure breakdown in the future. HOSE CLEANING: I removed the black one connected to the tub, the pump motor housing, and gray discharge hose (both the interior and exterior portions). This is a fairly easy process - just youtube replacement of these hoses and it will walk you through. Take them to the bathtub in a bucket to clean them (when your wife is not home). I used hot water and a long, tubular dryer lint brush to clean them thoroughly inside (tons of putrid gray colored chunks came out of all of them). Then I sprayed a bunch of Kaboom soap scum remover inside them and let them sit, then I repeated the process until they were clean. Once the washer was back up and running, I immediately noticed any bad smell was gone. After washing, I always leave the door open to dry and pull the soap tray out and dump the water out of it. Hopefully it will stay clean now if I do an Affresh tablet once a month or so. I hope this info is helpful to you!

I have a 13 year old Whirlpool Duet Sport washer that started making loud noises / heavy buzzing when the washer would pump out water from the wash cycles. I investigated to find out I had a worn out drain pump. This replacement drain pump ( to me ) was easy to install and was the correct replacement per the data sheet. Be sure to follow ALL SAFETY practices, notes and warnings. One note- this drain pump has two wire jumpers you have to install between the drain pump motor and the drain pump connector you remove from the old drain pump- it was easy and straightforward- no problem, non issue. I tie wrapped the extra slack in the wiring so that it wouldn’t get in the way of anything running in that area- always think ahead. The new drain pump I received already had the O ring installed on it with an extra one in the box. Please note- You may want to check to make sure your replacement drain pump has the O ring on it before installing it. I am super happy with this replacement. It fit just like the old one. I ran the washer thru it’s cycles, no water leaks and the pump was quiet. A marked improvement. I give this replacement pump 10 stars out of 10!!! I saw no issues with the motor itself. It works without any obvious problems. However, there were three minor items that kept me from giving it five stars.1) The box it came in was all banged up, with open wounds. There did not appear to be any damage to the motor or contents.2) It arrived with a loose O-ring in the box. Although there were no instructions that came with it, there is only one place for the O-ring to go. I put it onto the collar in its obvious place. The collar fits against the mating surface on the pump housing. I tried for several minutes to get things to fit together, but they just barely would not agree to go together. Almost, but not quite. I opened things up to see what I could see. After inspecting things, I noticed that there was already an O-ring on the collar in the required location. The O-ring is black. The surface it was mounted to was black, and therefore it was very difficult to see the O-ring which was already installed. Adding the second O-ring which came loose in the box resulted in there being two stacked O-rings where there was only supposed to be one. I tried reassembling things without the second O-ring, and then everything finally fit easily together. Why the extra O-ring without any indication what it was there for? There should have been a warning not to install it over the almost invisible one that was already there.3) Although advertised as an "Exact Fit", it isn't in one way. The male connector on this replacement motor is very different than the one on the original motor which came with the washing machine. However, they supplied adapter cables that you have to install between the male connector on the replacement motor and the original female connector on the washing machine cables. This is not too difficult to do, but nonetheless, nullifies their claim as an "Exact Fit". And again, there were no instructions. But it was not too difficult for this electrical engineer to figure out. Not sure how obvious this would have been to others. These adapter cables present another problem though. The extra cables now dangle around the motor and can vibrate against other surfaces, making noise, and possibly eventually wear through, causing a short. I had to arrange something with cable ties and heat shrink to prevent these problems.Since I just installed it this week, it is too soon to say how reliable it is. But once I got past the above problems, it did seem to work fine in its initial uses. Based on feel and appearances only, it did seem to be built as robustly as the original motor, which lasted us about 13 years.

Was concerned reading the other reviews but once it arrived I noticed that instead of having crimp leads they are now double ended as plugs and slide right onto the factory plug no problem. Twists into place no problem. Going this route saved me 140 hard earned loons.

NOT an Exact Fit as stated, thus 4 stars as some purchasers may have trouble with using jumpewr wires.but good price, good fit, and works well.The description and pics need to be more accurate to state it requires jumper wires, its misleading.Hope the longevity is good? we will find out.

Product came relatively fast for shipping , good as factory for fitment the two wires and connections that came with it made it easy to wire up with out splicing. Would recommend and I would re-order .
