Perfect solution!
This was very easy to set up on our laptop (which didn't include a CD player!).I was able to upload software without any issues, and having the cord built-in to the spot underneath was a clever design. I wish more people thought abut things like this because I frequently lose track of the many USB cords we have all over the house!

Does not work
This thing is a piece of junk. Super thin, feels like an ice cube tray like its going to break.. cord the thickness of paperclip, and its about 9 inches long... really crappy for trying to use on my desktop computer where I can't even get it to the desk surface. And of course it doesnt work with a USB cord extension... so plug it in directly, set it on the tower, the device shows up... but no matter what you put in it, it just makes a bunch of noise and flashes lights and says "insert disc" when there is already a disc in. Lame... this thing had almost perfect reviews and I just wanted it to work without a bunch of fuss, but clearly its junk.

it reads disks just fine. havent tried burning one yet, will update if/when it breaks.

Worked out of the Box
Worked out of the box. I have a good deal of hobby-related vintage radio information on CDs - not found on most computers these days. This was an inexpensive solution.
