One of my Top Reads so far this year
This book is told in a variety of time lines and even includes a script from a tell all interview with the main character, Marlow Fin.WOW! This book is good. It has family drama, lots of innuendo, and is suspenseful. The book tells us about Marlow Fin, a girl found in the woods when she was 6 years old and is adopted by the family that found her. Marlow grows up the be one of the most famous figures in the world. She gives an exclusive interview about her life. The author does an amazing job of telling this story in a nonlinear timeline. She also creates characters that are morally ambiguous. It’s a top read for me so far in 2024.

I enjoyed the format of the book. I love how the storyline went. It’s a great book. The ending was shocking. It was shocking I think this book is for adults. It’s an interesting good read. I look forward to all the books by this author. It will not disappoint.

Write More Books!
Read both your books in one day. Both were equally as good. Great character development on all characters. Story line that keeps one intrigued until the very end. Please write more! The other book is Fortune

A poignant story that tries to do a few too many things.
This is a tricky review to write because I’m still having trouble determining exactly what type of book this was. At different points, I thought it may be a thriller, a coming-of-age story, or a retelling of the movie “The Bad Seed.”There’s no problem with a book being all those things and more! But it’s difficult as a reader when you can’t detect the predominant theme. The result is a more diluted story, with no one point standing out against the rest.Overall, I did like the book! The dual POVs and the structure involving a tell-all celebrity interview were engaging. There’s a murder mystery element as well, which did surprise me. However, I’m still unable to justify a few major choices due to a lack of motivation. Considering how we’re taken through the sisters’ lives from a very young age, their actions towards the end of the book felt out of character. One consistent element, which I enjoyed was the writing! The scenes detailing Isla and Marlow’s upbringing were poignant and included great detail and character development, especially concerning their grandmother, Moni. Considering this, I’m interested in seeing what the author has planned next. With a more structured plot, I think her follow-up book could be a win!

another great book
I was more than excited to read Ellen’s second novel. It didn’t disappoint. I have to say I LOVED fortune. It is in my top 5. I’m not sure this one will make that list but it is a worthy read. I did guess the big twist about halfway thru. But not all of it.

Convoluted, Complex, Stunning
I never saw it coming. The structure is creative… unique. The plot twists are unexpected. The writing and allusions are excellent. Altogether an unusual, but fine novel.

Great satisfying read. If you are in a slump looking for next book fix this is the solution!
If you are in a reading slump or need something for your next vacation look no further. Interesting characters, dynamic and diverse family connections, mystery and twists, sisterhood, parenthood and fame. You will start and stay for the characters and family suspense only to have the second half of the book unravel into a page turner where the last half of the book flies by with so much changing what you thought your knew, a true twist! Loved it and didn’t want it to end!

Great Read
I was really drawn to the premise with this book and this author delivered something overall pretty great. There was a lot of complexity to the story and there was a lot of back and forth between characters and time period that brought the past to life and made sense of the present. There were some pacing issues throughout that kind of held this book back at places, however they also helped develop the characters a little more acutely so I felt that it was a bit of a toss up. The script was a great element in this book and created a really interesting extra character/voice that helped move the plot along. This was really unique and interesting. Thanks for the ARC, NetGalley.
