When it works it's a great product, but it appears the flow of water creates enough vibration that 2 of the batteries shake loose, eventually causing it to not operate correctly. Device CLAIMED it was off, but the valve stayed open. Wouldn't respond to button presses. Pulled the battery tray and one battery fell out completely, the other was half unseated.*Update* Bending the battery contacts significantly improved the device. Batteries still move, but haven't disconnected like before. Vendor took feedback well on possible changes and is looking to improve the design to reduce cases where this happens. Upgraded from 3 to 4 stars.

I chose this timer because of incorporated internal water meter. I also prefer that the hub has USB connection instead of electric outlet plug power connection. Setting up the timer proved to be much easier than expected. Chinese instructions were bad as usual, erroneous, and only created confusion. Understand, this timer needs a gateway hub to function. It connects to the gateway hub which in turn connects to internet via router-access point. Hence, the gateway has to be set first, and after that zigbee timers, soil sensors can be coupled to the gateway. Both timer and the gateway has only one button for reset-setup, and no other controls. Prepare Smart Life app. Make sure your phone is connected to 2.4 GHz band of your router and you have the password. Press button on the gateway for 5 sec - red light start blinking rapidly. Click on + in Smart Life (top right coner), "Add device" and select Wireless Gateway (ZigBee). After the gateway is registered press a button on the timer for 6 sec, it starts blinking. Select the gateway in Smart Life app, and couple the timer from within the gateway by tapping "Add subdevice". Timer can be hooked up to water supply after networking setup is finished. p. 4 instruction in the timer manual is wrong. In stead of 'Tap "Add subdevice" or "+" to add the zigbee hub in app' it shall say 'Tap "Add subdevice" or "+" to add the timer to the zigbee hub in app'.Do not set watering to 1-5 sec while testing despite the app allows it. Such a short interval may NOT be sufficient for proper communication with network and valve may not close. Also remember that this model requires water pressure to operate.

This item showed up obviously very used, it's dirty and has Teflon tape in the threads. Some one has clearly all ready returned this item once.I now have to go out of my way to a dang Staples to return this... I'm definitely not happy. I wanted a new item...

Updated Review:Support has reached out to me, and they explained that there was a firmware issue on both the devices that I've tried. They have sent me another replacement unit, and I've been running it for about a week now without having any random disconnection issues like the first two. I am still leaving my review is 3 stars because two out of the three units had issues. If you are using the Tuya hub, you can update the firmware.Support has been great and they tried to understand the issues I was facing and tried to offer solutions. Thank you for working with me on this.Original Review:This product is completely useless. I had to re-pair it almost every day. Even after trying a replacement unit, the problem persisted with both devices.I placed the gateway just on the other side of a window from the unit. It connected fine initially, but by the next day, it would disconnect. This required me to reset the unit entirely and reconnect it each time.

Omg… the installation is easy, you just put in on the hose.But for it to work you need to pair it with a router that needs to be installed at a different frame range of the internet… I mean… why why why? I still can’t connect it. So I really don’t know how it works. If I finally I’m able to connect it, I will update my review.
