Authentic
This was a very interesting book. Recipes were well written: list of ingredients, directions, temperatures and cook times all there. Love The index in the back, but wish was searchable. All of the recipes I have tried I loved, the potato dumplings being my favorite. Some I cannot wait to try, Farmer cheese pirogies. Some I’ll never try, Rabbit meat pate.over all a great cookbook. Going to make the pickle soup as a surprise for a family get together where I always like to toss something in that’s fun to try.

Good recipes, a few spelling errors.
Authentic recipes that remind me of my mother and grandmother's cooking! However, the names of two dishes are mispelled ("befsrtoganof" should be "stroganow" and "cieleçe" should be "cielęce"). Though they are minor mistakes, probably typos, the editor should have spotted them easily.Aside from that, the formatting leaves a bit to be desired but the recipes are solid and I am glad I purchased this cookbook.

I:m sorry I thought that I just submitted my review but let's do it again. I found recipes that my Grandma and used to make together. I loved the book.

Could Be A GREAT Cookbook, But...
This is one of the more difficult cookbook reviews I have written. Why? How is it possible to be critical of a book with excellent photos of outstanding-looking dishes that tease me so effectively as do Beef and Cabbage Stuffed Corquettes; Kielbasa Shish Kabobs; or Beef Stroganoff? Please pull up a chair and hear me out...The recipes, most accompanied with photographs, appear to be tantalizing. They appear to be fairly simple (don't confuse that with easy, if you are an inexperienced cook) and comprised of few enough ingredients for the average cook. So, that is not my complaint. There are no prep times, no cook times, and no nutritional analysis provided. Missing all this information would ordinarily result in no worse than a four star review, because the writing is good and the spreads, soups, salads and meals look THAT delicious. What is aggravating, though, is the formatting.Ingredients all are right-justified, while balance of the text is left-justified, making for a difficult to use reference. Further, often, we have parts of one recipe appear with parts of the following recipe, which causes further difficulty in use.BOTTOM LINEI hope the author will take note of these formatting issues. I have included screen shots to display my concerns. The pics were taken from my fifth generation iPad, but the same issues are evident when viewing using the Kindle app on my PC.Fix the formatting and it'll be at least a four star cookbook. Add in the other missing information and it'll be a solid five stars. This could, with no great effort, be a fantastic ethnic-food cookbook.I am striving to produce reviews that help you find books that you want, or avoid books that you wish to avoid. With your help, my improvement will help you and me improve book reviews on Amazon. Together, you and I can build a great customer review process that helps everybody. Will you join me? It is people such as you who have helped me improve over the years. I'm still learning, and I have a great deal yet to learn. With your help, I'll improve every day.One request: Be respectful and courteous in your comments and emails to me. I will do likewise with you.Thank you so much for indicating if this review helped you, or for your comment.

Great book with classic polish recipes!
This is a great book with authentic Polish recipes! I was born and raised in Poland and we did 80% of these dishes at home. There are classic pierogi, golabki, korlet schabowy, zupa pomidorowa, zupa ogorkowa, kopytka, smalec, salatka jerzynowa, barszcz bialy etc. They are well written and easy to follow. I highly recommend this wonderful Polish cookbook!

It’s pretty authentic, but...
Just to set one reviewer straight, a recipe for bigos is included - look up Hunters Stew! Mygripe is that the recipes do not say how many they serve, which is a major omission. Also, I’m not sure I fancy making a tomato soup which relies on tomato paste instead of fresh or tinned tomatoes! Could it be that these family recipes were concocted in times of post war shortages?
