I ordered my regular size and they were so tight, I had to send them back

Q: Can I hike uphill and down hill in the comfortably ?

Oh for sure, I wore mine in a Mexico jungle doing zip lining, no problems with comfort and took the rough coarse along with climbing.

Q: How does this run in size

I wear size 7 1/2 or 8; I ordered size 8 in these and they fit perfectly.

Q: Do these hold their shape when not wearing them? Past Plaka shoes require two hands to put them on because the rope/string doesn't hold it's shape.

They do not hold their shape. The sandals have stretchy strings and you need both hands to fit them around your feet.
