THOR BY WALTER SIMONSON VOL. 1 [NEW PRINTING] (Mighty Thor by Walter Simonson, 1)

One of the greatest runs on the title
The art! The lettering! The humor! The stories! This was the run that made Thor genuinely interesting to me, and the art is so powerful I still remember individual panels decades later.

Be prepared to be blown away
I was absolutely thrilled to find the Walter Simonson story arcs in a graphic novels. When I was growing up I would eagerly rush to the local comic shop to buy the latest releases. When Simonson began his run on the Mighty Thor. I was totally blown away with both the quality of the art work and the writing of the book. It was another Marvel comics milestone. My original comic collection was lost years ago but it was refreshing to be able to read my favorite comics again without it costing a fortune. It is well worth the price. " NUFF SAID"

Truly Inspired
Rather than treading the same ground of previous writers, Simonson stakes out his own territory on Thor. He left a mark that is still felt today. The Thor movies even lift ideas and images from him as well as Jack Kirby. Very good company to keep.

It's a classic comic through and through
I just finished reading this first volume and I have to say not that shabby the rising tension is good with a demon forging a sword out of a star over the course of the volume, the drama with balder is good with him dealing with his ptst from hell, the way they betray Odin is awesome and really good witch is rare case most of the time people treat Odin as a reskin of zuse when there more like opisets, Thor characterization is good and the superman refranse is awesome, the new characters they intraduce are cool and are ingadging like the last viking, bataray bill and malakith the dark elf and volstagg just volstagg. The only real grips is that the pricing can be a bit funky at times and helas arc in the first half of this volume seems a bit rushed but this could just be simptums of a new run beginning so they'll probably be smoothed out with time. I would give this first volume a solid B/B+ to A

Walt Simonson's Thor run
This volume includes the introduction of Beta Ray Bill. That alone makes it worth the price.

Great as I remember.
Good fun with a little drama thrown in for good measure. Great art and layouts, just classic marvel story telling.

DAMN! WOW!
If you enjoyed Thor Ragnarok you need this comic. It combines a similar kind of humor with these epic high stakes gigantic stories that somehow still manage to feel episodic. Get immersed enough like I was and you'll start hearing a reading guitar riff in your head. Yes, this book gets that czasy you'll imagine hearing music you're not even into like I am. It's just awesome!
