An Eclectic Ride with Heybike - An Urban Commuter's Dream
I recently purchased the Heybike Cityrun Electric Bike, 500W City Cruiser Ebike, 48V 15Ah Removable Battery, Step-Thru Electric Bicycle with APP Control, Shimano 7-Speed, Commuter Electric Bike for Adult in orange. As a newcomer to the world of electric bikes, I was looking for something user-friendly and well-crafted that also fell within my budget. In this review, I'll be sharing my impressions of this distinctive ride. After asking for recommendations and assessing my bike requirements, Heybike proved to be the ideal choice, offering the right features at the right price point.I am new to electric bikes and wanted something that was easy to use, and quality built and would fit within my price range. I'm here to share my thoughts on this unique ride. When I was asking around to see what features my bike needed, Heybike fit the bill and the price.Design and Build QualityThe Heybike showcases a sleek and contemporary design that immediately captures your attention. Its frame seamlessly combines style with sturdiness, making it a dependable companion for daily commutes or leisurely rides through town. The matte finish adds a touch of premium elegance, and the meticulous craftsmanship is evident in every detail of its construction. My husband took on the task of assembling the bike, leveraging his experience with various mountain bikes, and his familiarity with their assembly process. While I'm perfectly capable of following instructions and watching instructional videos, this particular assembly would have proven too complex for me. It appears that there may have been changes to the bike design since the instructional videos were made, as they didn't align with the components I had. Fortunately, with my husband's expertise, we managed without any issues. However, for those who may not have such assistance readily available, I would consider paying extra for Amazon's assembly service if it's an option.PerformanceOne word: impressive! The Heybike is powered by a robust electric motor that delivers a smooth and exhilarating ride. Whether you're tackling hills or cruising on flat terrain, this bike handles it all with ease. The acceleration is quick, and the pedal-assist feature ensures you're never left struggling against a strong headwind. It's like having your personal tailwind everywhere you go!Battery LifeThe Heybike's battery life is quite commendable. On a full charge, I was able to cover a range of approximately 50 miles, which is more than sufficient for most urban commutes. The battery charges fairly quickly, allowing you to get back on the road in no time. The removable battery is a thoughtful addition, making it convenient for charging or storage.Comfort and ErgonomicsAdjusting the seat height to a comfortable position for my knees did take a bit of time, but once that was sorted out, I was ready to roll. The Heybike proves to be comfortable enough for shorter rides, although for extended journeys, I'd suggest considering a gel seat cover for added comfort. The handlebars provide a comfortable grip, and the overall riding posture is ergonomically designed, which helps minimize strain on your back and shoulders. Thanks to the suspension system, it delivers a smooth ride even on the challenging terrain of city streets, effectively absorbing bumps and potholes along the way.Connectivity and FeaturesOne of the standout features of the Heybike is its connectivity options. It comes equipped with a user-friendly smartphone app that allows you to monitor battery status, track your rides via GPS, and even customize your riding experience. The built-in front and rear lights, and bell, ensure visibility during nighttime rides, enhancing safety.Price and ValueBuying an ebike isn't a decision to be taken lightly. I was aware from the start that ebikes came with a significant price tag, but Heybike stood out by including many features that other pricier ebikes often charge extra for. When you weigh the performance, construction quality, and overall convenience it provides for city commuters, it becomes a reasonable investment for those who value a smooth and enjoyable riding experience without unnecessary complications.Final VerdictIn conclusion, the Heybike is a unique and exhilarating urban commuter's companion. Its blend of style, performance, and connectivity features make it a top contender in the electric bike market. While the price might be a bit steep for some, the Heybike delivers where it counts: a seamless and enjoyable riding experience. If you're looking to upgrade your daily commute or simply want to explore your city in style, the Heybike is worth considering.

Instructions/Assembly video meh, bike great, problems with brake
1. My first e-bike, although far from my first bike. There was more assembly of the e-bike than I expected, but none of it difficult and it took overall slightly more than an hour. It was fully charged upon assembly. Charging is simplicity itself. The bike reminds me quite a bit of a motorcycle, actually, with turn signals and hydraulic braking. Power is applied with the pedal assist or with the right thumb, which I actually find quite natural even though I spent years riding motorcycles with twist grip throttles.2. The instruction manual is poorly written in broken English with nearly useless pictures. The assembly video references parts that aren't supplied with the standard bike, which is confusing, and is not nearly detailed enough. The company should have somebody totally unfamiliar with the bike (and not a bike mechanic) try to follow the manual or video, and they will quickly see the problems.3. Once assembled and adjusted, the bike is amazing. It's lighter than many e-bikes but far heavier than a traditional English style or racing bike. It's sturdy and the back carrier is quite solid. It took me about ten minutes in the driveway to get used to the power assist functions.4. The bike has sturdy tires and a really excellent derailleur system which integrates nicely with the power assist features.5. Battery life is more than sufficient for me to run errands around town. If you have a long commute, or want to cross country overnight, you might want a larger battery. All in all, I'm favorably impressed and would highly recommend.Update: On a short ride three days after purchasing the bike, I noticed the front brake getting spongy. I took it to a Trek bike store, and the caliper was leaking hydraulic fluid and the bike mechanic couldn't get it to seal properly, requiring replacement. The brake pads were obviously ruined by this, and the mechanic recommended replacing the brake rotor as well. I sent an email to HeyBike support, but haven't seen an answer yet. I'll update this review after hearing from them.Update 2: HeyBike responded quickly to my telephone call regarding this issue and immediately refunded the cost of repair, and said that a replacement brake caliper (with pads) and rotor were on the way. Great service so far!Update 3: HeyBike parts arrived in 4 days (over a weekend). Dealing with the service department at HeyBike was a pleasant experience. The brake parts arrived with a front basket, which took me by surprise, but is much appreciated. Turns out that the replacement rotor was for a rear (smaller), but rotors are expendables on motorcycles and e-bikes, so I just bought a heavier duty and correctly sized rotor from Trek. The bike will be ready tomorrow!Update 4: Front brake and rotor replaced. I'm happy with the heavier rotor in front--the upgrade just came a little earlier than expected. The bike is a joy to ride and long hills are less intimidating than with non-powered bikes. The lights and everything else work smoothly. The double lever shifters will take a bit of getting used to, but the gearing and 500 watt motor work together seamlessly. So far so good!

We like these bikes
Bought 2 of these. My wife and I like them a lot. Positives are they are very nice looking, very comfortable ride, wide tires better for dirt roads, very good battery range and lots of power and I like the carrier rack, also we like the horn, brake lights and turn signals. Negatives: its a little wobbly at very low speed, wish i could lower the handlebar stem to lower the center of gravity to make it more stable but you cannot. So we usually start up with a little throttle, then the bike feels very stable. Don't like the app. If you use it must have phone to ride. What if phone battery runs out? then you can't unlock bike. Without app can't lock controls. Key is for battery compartment only. So we don't use the app. It's a very heavy bike about 65 to 68lbs with carrier added. Front wheel assembly was difficult. I suggest leaving it to last, inverting bike and then add wheel. Also bottle holder is so poorly located-right in the way of mounting-dismounting. I relocated it under seat. (see photo) Works great there, easy to reach. I had to interact with Heybike regarding 1 issue and they were very responsive. All in all a very nice bike.

Best Purchase Ever
We got two of these electric bikes and absolutely love them. They are sturdy, easy to put together and a blast to ride. We have been out on several 4 km rides and no issues. Customer services walked us through some set up on screen. They were helpful and responded promptly when we had questions. Besides performing excellently, the are really sharp looking. Highly recommend

This bike has been a disaster
As soon as I got the bike, 7th gear was skipping (forward off the teeth of the gear). I've spent so many nights trying to fix this. Every part on this bike is unattainable, so specific and hard to find. Who would make it this way? None of these parts are available? And why should I have to fix it when it's only a couple months old? The cassette needs replacing but I don't even know where to get it from, and I don't trust HeyBike's quality control enough to get one from them. Support takes forever to get back to you, also, and they don't even list part numbers for the bike in the manual, makes no sense. Would not recommend.
