I got this because I have plenty of DeWalt batteries on hand. That this is compatible with batteries that I already had is the only reason I snagged this particular one. While caulking is not a major part of my time, I do use caulk, from time to time. Two things that I really love about this:First is the operation, of course. Using a motor to do the work of hand-cranking makes things easier. Additionally, the STEADY bead is hard to sustain, even for the experienced laborer. This takes care of that at the same time it relieves a great deal of muscle fatigue.Second, when the trigger is released, the motor auto-reverses for a second. This relieves the pressure on the tube, and prevents waste. Additionally, the reversal is immediate; much faster than the pressure released could be reached by an human hand. The thought that went into the design means that the engineer/designer (at the very least) consulted people that would ACTUALLY be using this tool. It might even have been designed by someone that utilized this tool on the daily. Very useful, well thought-out, and intelligently executed. This also seems to use very little power, during operation. I don't think battery life will be a drawback. I could be wrong, but only time will tell. Longevity will also require time for a valid assessment. I came very close to giving this five stars, but it only has one function, and it not quite what I would call "spectacular." Very close, though... about 4.8, I'd say.

I have a lot of Dewalt compatible tools, either batteries or tools themselves. This type of caulking gun is really helpful if you need to run a lot of caulking. I had a couple jobs recently that took a lot less time than I was expecting and it was due to using this tool. I had a board/bat sided house I was painting. I used almost 3 cases of caulking. After just a few tubes I remembered I had picked this up and switched from a manual gun. This has some nice features like a light, although I try not to use this type of thing in the dark, variable speed and spinning tube holder to position that angled opening just the way you want it. For small jobs this would be overkill but larger jobs where you're using cases of caulking this is a huge time saver.
