Feeling Flaky for Dry & Sensitive Skin, 16.1oz Strawberry Yogurt

My dog has rather itchy skin. I bought this for my Basset Hound because I have used the human-version of this brand and the bottle was really cute. The ingredients seemed nice and the reviews weren't that bad. The smell is a bit fake and overpowering when you pour it into your hand. The bottle does not have a pump which is a bit inconvenient. I lathered my dog and let it sit for a minute. All dogs tend to smell like a dog after not bathing for a while. If you have ever had a hound or been around one you would know their skin supplies a lot of oil. This oil begins to stink to the point you no longer want to pet them let alone coincide with them. Normally when I rinse her off she loses a good amount of hair. When I washed her with this it was a ton. Enough to clog the drain from one wash. I also bought the Leave-in conditioner of the same scent to put on after the bath, it was considerably more subtle in terms of scent than the shampoo. Following her bath, I let her dry on the balcony. I couldn't smell anything on her once she was dry, no "Strawberry- Yogurt" scent nor dog butt scent. The next day was a completely different story. She did not get into any dirt or anything of the sort, but she literally smelled like a rotting camel's backside, I didn't want to rewash her because I know it's not good to overwash a dog. However, It was so bad that I figured I was wrong and she must have rubbed herself in poop or something, nope. After her second bath, I did not let her out of my sight until she was dry. She was again smelling like nothing, the next day the same revolting smell was back. My partner could smell her from across the room. Perhaps it did not agree with her chemistry the same way some perfume doesn't smell good on certain people. I am not sure. All I know is I wasted 16 bucks on the two items when I could have washed her in fish juice and preferred the smell. Though the product did not work for my girl, I think breeds with different less oily coats could potentially use it without any problem Her coat was soft after using it but that's the only positive remark I have. A lot of dog shampoos have some nasty ingredients. I personally use the Johnson & Johnson, Skin Nourish, Vanilla Oat Wash for babies. It keeps her from itching, her coat is soft, and she smells good for days afterward even if she plays outside (which is a huge win if you have a hound). Hope this helps.

I love Pet Head’s quality. This shampoo is no exception. I bought it for my yorkie and when I use it, her coat is absolutely gorgeous and glossy!One thing I did not like was the scent. It smelled like medicine, very artificial. Like pepto bismol on my pup but I kept it because I didn’t want to go through the trouble of returning it and because the scent wears off rather quickly.Other than that, it really conditions your pet’s coat!I recommend the tearless orange shampoo if scent is really important to you.

Overall this is a solid product. My dog is super soft after this shampoo and it smells wonderful in the bottle. Only thing is I wish it would have left the same sent on my dog, but she smells pretty much like nothing. No complaints because she doesn’t stink at all, just no fruity smell like I was hoping. I ended up ordering the deodorizing spray too because overall I’m very happy with the quality of the product just want a little more yummy smell. Smell is very mild so many might actually appreciate that! Also my bottle came sealed and no spills or leaks. Very happy and would definitely order again!!

Our female chihuahua was having severe allergy issues and, after getting her a medicated shampoo, she was left with dry skin that was even itchier than the allergy! So I looked into this and bought it the next day.Let me say that the packaging is awful, but it's wrapped in plastic so you shouldn't have any soapy boxes... Hopefully.However, the product itself? Great. The smell is heavenly- it's overpowering while you lather but your dog smells amazing after the bath is over. Her dry skin cleared up in two weeks (One bath a week) and she smelled great!As with any bath, if you wash them too much their issue will not go away. The shampoo does its job when it removes oil- but it also removes natural, good oil, from the coat as well. (All shampoos do!)So spread their baths out. One bath a week tops and you should be golden!Also make sure that you only wash a tiny portion of your dog (I.e: The tail) before lathering it completely on them. Some dogs are allergic to certain shampoos!

This shampoo smells AMAZING!! It lathers well and a little goes a long way. I'm a dog groomer and I have a lot of clients with skin conditions and not everyone likes the smell of medicated shampoo so this is a great choice for them! But this would also be a great shampoo for dogs with no skin conditions.

My miniature schnauzer has had flaky skin for so many years. Even after getting groomed it is frustrating that he comes out still flaky. Used a bunch of different shampoos & treatments over the years to alleviate his dry skin, but none worked as amazing as this! The scent is lovely, the product is thick and lathers up great. Not only did my London smell amazing he was flake free after the first use! So thankful to have finally found a shampoo that works for him.

My dog has super dry skin. Dryer than dry can be, so it often looks like she's been rolling around in cotton. I used this once on her. Once, was all that it took for me to fall in love with this shampoo. Her skin was no longer flakey. In fact, her skin and her fur were softer than I've ever felt with her. I will be purchasing this again and this will likely be something that I will have auto delivered.

I went all out and purchased this product first time after I purchased my dog, and he had flaky skin due to breeder washing him with dawn soap. Argh! Same happened when I left him at a kennel and they bathed him, he broke out with flaky skin. I wash him about once a month to twice month with this with I Love Pethead leave-in conditioner, and have had no problems with flakiness. I even bring it with me to the pet barber to wash him with. Why change something that isn't broke? By the way may seem important. I have a 3 year old 4 lb Yorkie. Great for sensitive skin types, and light hair. This product lasts me over a year for my dog so it is worth the money. The smell is nice, but unimportant since doesn't stay.
