Description

This is a study of the relationship between translations studies and linguistics. This text assesses both sides of the relationship, tracing the contributions that linguists have made to translation studies and at the same recognizing the limitations of many of their approaches. It describes taxonomies of translation strategies and deals with problems such as equivalence, and explains the contributions of text linguistics, sociolinguistics, pragmatics and psycholinguistics. Theories presented were originally produced in Russian, German, French and Spanish as well as English.
