Updated 09NOV2018Finally got an A23 battery. Basic light & fan controls work intuitively. I think it really sucks that it beeps and turns on the light upon restoration of a power outage! Haven't tried the timer function. I really don'tlike the beeping every time a button is pressed or power is interrupted. I'm gonna crack the shell & defeat the beeper.Later:Fortunately the case has 6 locking tabs instead of being glued or worse, ultrasonicly welded. De-soldering 2 contacts is all it took to ditch the piezoelectric nuisance. I'm happier with the remote controller now that it doesn't brag about doing what it's told.Original review:Don't expect to activate this remote with an everyday battery. It requires an A23, 12V battery. The remote I installed a few years ago in a differentfan was pricier but uses a regular 9V battery.I recommend ASIN B00A2WU4CK

Easy to install, works well (better than the stock one that burned up). been installed for 2 months now.The *beep* tone might be annoying to some, but for us has been a good thing - it confirms the click was accepted, no need to wait to see if the fan is slowing down before leaving the room

Works ok, but it beeps when every a button is pressed, not what I need when trying to be quit with someone else in the room is sleeping

Just what I needed to get my fans on a timer for the kids rooms. Installed in three fans with no issues.

Had a power outrage during the night when the light was already turned off. When the power came back on, the light turned on and the unit beeped. Not the greatest way to wake up...Why does it always turn on after power failure?

It worked well but it didn’t have a dimmer built in for the light which my old one did.

Was too large to fit in the base of my ceiling fan and had to return.

It works perfectly. Direct replacement, it beeps when activating the lights. Recommend
