Used this to get the murky water clear in my pond. It took about a week and I needed to clean the product multiple times because it trapped all of the small particles.

Unlike others, this product measures well within what’s stated. Additionally, it’s very durable and holds up to a few rinses. I use this in a 40g sump, filtering (2300 GPH) a 210g African Cichlid tank.

Much more value for the money than other filter material that I've used.

Better clean water

I used to have a different sponge filter that did not catch the fine particles nor did it polish the water, every time I pulled my old sponge filter you would see all the brown water fall back into the pond as I lifted it, it was so annoying.This sponge filter catches most debris, polishes the water and when you pull it out it will not release all the dirt back into the pond, dirt stays trapped in the sponge, you rinse it and it will perform over and over.So I have to give it a good rating.

I was reluctant to spend a lot of money on filters... if you have turtles you know why. When they aren't busy purposefully knocking down, tearing apart, or simply just pushing themselves between it and the wall. Maybe my turtles are just unruly. Either way... this stuff was easy to push into the bottle I use for the filter, comes out easy, and cleaned the water up much better than anything else I have tried. Maybe not specifically designed for the way I use it. BUT I approve, AND the turtle cannot pull it out of the bottle, so I am happy. :) Clean tank, just pull and wash or switch the filter once a day. MUCH better. Thank you and I will purchase again. Oh, and the four stars for easy to wash is because... I'm sorry... is there such a thing as an EASY to wash filter? No, it's gross, it takes water, time and patience, cause TURTLES are messy eaters and love to tear up anything in the tank.

This filter material may be better used in a filter different than mine. It's really affordable and came in a huge roll, easy to cut. The problem is that when I placed it into my pond filter in the pond (not the large external one), it sits in there right next to the intake and the material is so soft and suction strong, so that the filter medium was getting sucked into the intake and clogging it. It filtered great until that happened, as of course almost stopping the water flow doesn't help with filtering. I used it to replace the very stiff black filter material that was in there before, and it didn't work. Got new one like the old and works perfect again. I'm sure it there was some kind of grating over the water intake it would have been fine.
