A gracious two stars
This book was pretty bad. The editing was nearly non-existent. Misspelled or missing words were found every few pages. Punctuation was sometimes missing. Some of the references I found interesting and wanted to explore were not found. Some were misleading and actually animal studies. A bit of the information related to insulin is old understanding that has been refuted by newer research. I'm highly suspicious of a product when most of its 5 star ratings are from profiles with the product being the only one ever reviewed (I mean no offense to the legitimate reviewers). Tons of the book is promoting his supplements. No, I do not have a 3 year medical degree from Canada and I do not have any world records in powerlifting. I do believe Dr. Pasquale is highly regarded as being an expert in steroid usage and powerlifting (I am not suggesting the two are related). Carb cycling is one (effective) thing, while this metabolic phase shifting is another. Going less crazy on carbs and having a bit more of a spread out midweek spike would be almost consistent with a typical carb cycle. There are principles in there that are legitimate. I won't argue the points about carbohydrate choices being responsible for cholesterol, bodyfat and heart issues or fats typically not being your enemy. He really needed to come at this a little differently to gain more stars. Legitimate references, better editing and leaving out the plethora of his own supplements would make this closer to a 4 star book or something more worth the ridiculous $40 price. This is the worst valued purchase I have made on Amazon to date.I do have an M.S. in Exercise Physiology and have worked a bit with athletes along with actively pursuing triathlon and amature, drug-free bodybuilding. I don't believe the metabolic phase shift is as extensive as he claims. He might even be the first to tell you that I would not be an ideal candidate to try this out. If powerlifting, bodybuilding or weight loss are your main goal you might find some use out of these principles. If you are an endurance athlete or do team sports, this information would not help you out too much.If you're an English teacher or grammar nut, it might make you cry.

The book has some good information that you might not find in many books ...
The book has some good information that you might not find in many books but it has some bad too. here are some points that needs to be addressed:- its somewhat poorly written- some points are repeated- the author promotes his own products!!- there are some conflicting points, in one page you will find that the author suggests that pre-workout carb intake is bad for you, but in other sections of the book he says that you can take carbs before a workout!!- the author suggests that by following a high fat diet for some time, the muscles will get used to burn fat as a fuel source!! while the truth is that it depends on the exercise (aerobic or anaerobic).all in all, you can get some good information from this book, but it is not worth the price.

Great Book!
I heard about Dr. Di Pasquale's Anabolic Diet in the early 90's but never really paid attention to it. Recently I read The Anabolic Diet and this time at 49 years of age I followed it. I went from 25% body fat to presently 14% and aiming for less than 10%. This system works. I decided to purchase his new book Anabolic Solution for Bodybuilding because I wanted to read the scientific part of the system. I really enjoyed the book and I recommend it to those who like me, never found a way to lose the body fat. I have trained for over 30 years and I never found a way to get really lean. In my opinion this system really works. There are many variations to this system and other authors with similar systems but I find this book to be a less restricting way of doing it.

Diet review
Have used this diet prior when he called it the Anabolic Diet in the 1990's. If you follow his guidelines, which he spells out for you, you will have success. Especially for those who are avid weightlifters - the results are great. You will experience some of the best workouts ever after coming off your carb load on the weekend - your muscles will feel full, vascular and your strength will be through the roof. It can be tedious to keep track of how many carbs you are ingesting during the week, but it is worth it in the long run. Very happy to see that he has come out with his own supplement line as well. A little on the expensive side, but he understands the nutritional profile that you need on this diet and his supplements support it. Highly recommend this diet, with a little discipline you can achieve the look you've worked hard to develop.

DO NOT PURCHASE......
I have to agree with a few of the 2 star reviews on here. All the info in this book is just basic information. I thought there may be some sample weekly menus or other tricks that might help with fighting the carb urges. If you have no general knowledge or experience in bodybuilding this book might give you some basics to go by but if you've been around the game for a little while, you'd think this book is a joke.He sure did a lot of self promotion in it though. This is a $10 book at best. I feel really taken. Worst thing ive ever purchased from Amazon.Dave Polumbos sample menu is right on target. Lost 30 lbs in 2 months time. Oh another tip. If you get a bad sweet tooth. Have some peanut butter or other nut butters. Really satisfies that craving and a good source of fat.DO NOT WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS BOOK......

The best choice for bodybuilders
Excellent choice for serious bodybuilder who wants to invest on nutrition according to goals of muscle mass and cutting phase throughout the year. I have many books referring to diet for athletes but this one gives you all the info to plan tour diet for the year. All that I miss from this book is some reference to sample meals according to cycles. But if you are passionate you can find the info to develop your meals according to your nutritional habits. I strongly reccomend it to all those they regularly exercise.
