Coastal FIM Freedom in Motion Gen 6 Gm Lockpick for 2007+ Gm Vehicles

Had the Gen 5 Lockpick in my 2008 Sierra, and moved it to wife's Suburban so that I could install this Gen 6 in my truck. Love the menu system, which works perfectly with the DIC. Best feature for me is being able to access all features of the Nav system while driving; ridiculous "safety" feature to lock it out -- I don't need the NHTSA or GM to protect me, thank you. Letting front passenger watch movie also playing on the rear DVD entertainment system is a bonus. Both units have worked flawlessly, and this a great aftermarket addition.

I had nothing but trouble with this on my 2008 Escalade. Intermittant issues like running my battery dead overnight because the NAV was still powered up even though the screen was dark. The NAV unit occasionally came up in Metric even though the DIC was set to english. Worked with Coastal tech support which was terrible, just some guy on a cellphone. Upated firmware which made it worse. Keep in mind if you purchase this on Amazon you can't get it replaced through the manufacturer under warranty, it has to go through Amazon. (According to Steve at Coastal) When it did work it was really nice and I wish I could have worked out the issues but I was running out of time on returning it so I sent it back for a refund. I may try it again but I really don't want to have to take my dash apart over and over and end up breaking something.

This was pretty easy to install if you follow the instructions. I don't recommend using the "if all else fails read the instructions" method of installation. Just read and follow and it goes super quick. It does exactly what it says it does, and has worked without fail. I would buy again. Sometimes scrolling through the menus I find tedious, especially if I'm running around, as shifting gears makes you have to go back through the menus and select your option again. There might be a way to set a default that I haven't found yet, but I'd absolutely purchase again. I wish there were more features, like being able to record your cameras to an SD card or external source.

Easy to install. Works well but while in motion with DVD player feature unlocked for front screen it jumps back and forth from movie to blue screen intermittently. Also unable to see menu when a door or back hatch is open while moving. I guess those warnings take precedence.

This product works just like it descirbes. That's why I rated it 5 stars. It was easy to install. I installed it myself. I've been using it ever since, and I have not had any problems with it at all.

I have been using this device for three years now and it works pretty well. I have given it only 4 stars because it routinely freezes up my media unit. I have to disconnect the wiring harness and reconnect it to the lock pick module about once a week to restart my media unit. It can be a pain. But, the ability to provide entertainment to the front passenger far outweighs the glitch!I have the lock pick module located underneath the cup holders, so I keep that panel loose in order to restart my system due to the glitch.

Excellent product, works exactly as advertised. The only issue is there is an error in their instructions on wiring the rear camera.

This is ok. It does what it says but its a pain to use. You have to activate or turn this on evertime you want to use it. For example, you get in the car and put it in drive. As you drive you activate it so the passenger can enter a GPS address while in motion. That works. As soon as you put it in park the NAV in motion goes back to the default or factory setting which blocks NAV in motion which means if you want to add another address you have to activate it again. The same is true for the DVD movies. In my opinion this is a hack and an hassle. I wanted something more permenant that I could set and forget. Not the case. I emailed the company to see if there was a setting I am missing. I have not heard back and it has been 3 days. I will try again. So it works but could be much better for the price.
