Excellent for some things.
Every so often I buy what I think of as a new toy. Something to experiment with that stops one getting stale and staid. (That is my excuse anyway !) As I use the Liquitex soft body acrylics that these are compatible with they appealed. I liked the idea of having lots of control and drawing with paint. The flow on these is good, but it is an idea to use a bit of scrap paper not your working surface when you encourage more paint through the tip by repeatedly pressing down. That way you avoid sudden catastrophic blobs. The paint itself is far less opaque than the same colours in the soft body range and dries to a shine, making me suspect that it has achieved its runny nature by using a lot of gloss medium as a base. I found this lack of opacity a bit irksome as having to go over everything twice rather ruined the spontaneity of drawing with paint, but it does mean that you can get some interesting effects by layering the colours. The paint film is more fragile than the tube variety if you use it on canvas and probably needs a coat of acrylic varnish on top to protect it.After a lot of enjoyable experimentation I came to the conclusion that, on canvas, these work well for detail, , finishing touches and signatures where the runny paint is an advantage. Also they were really good for the first marks on a canvas, combining underpainting with the precision of drawing. For this I bought two more colours, burnt umber and unbleached titanium ,which along with the black and white from the set worked well. However the formulation works really well on multi-media paper without drying to a shine and I think the markers might come into their own for those who enjoy working in multi-media on paper. I happily admit I am probably not the target audience for these paint markers but I had a lot of funexperimenting ( playing) and found several uses for them that were excellent. As a gift to a budding artist a set of these and a plain canvas covered sketch book to personalise could make a good gift perhaps ?

Great for highlighting
once you get the paint moving in the pen it was easy to apply and has helped make the hands of a clock more noticeable in a room with subdued lighting

Great Pens!
I am so glad i bought these paint pens! they are awesome to use but i advice only use them when you have a large scale project to use them on like canvas in my case. the tips are not very pointed / fine detailed to use for intricate designs.still they paint is great, it has a little cracking on drying but nothing noticeable unless really close up. covers pencil and other pain colours really well .i always trust Liquitex and they did not disappoint in the product for me.

Brilliant pen
The best pen by far for outside use, esp on slate. Doesn’t fade or wash off in weather. Acetone will remove it if needed

Awesome!
It seemed kinda liquidy at first. Or perhaps too watery. But after a couple of applications it stuck just fine on some plastic. Really bright and stands out against most surfaces! Works well during daytime and low light conditions too. Used this for the back of a front iron sight for a paintball gun. Makes target acquisition really easy and fast!
