Copper Slug Bands - These Copper Slug Bands are made from flexible copper, which means these bands can be easily clipped together to make much larger rings and they can be easily bent into various shapes - ideal for awkward situations. They will last for years. To save money buy in packs of 10 (TJ-CJEE-URRB)

The horticulturalist at the local garden centre recommended copper rings to deter slugs and whilst I was doubt I thought I'd give them a go. I'm very happy to report that the slugs haven't been anywhere near my newly planted hostas, which is a first as they are usually eaten within a week; needless to say I am very happy with them (the rings, not the slugs!)

Deterrent only
Planted 20 small coriander plants in an area frequented by slugs. Put these collars around 5 of them. These 5 plants are now the only ones standing - 15 eaten, but the 5 collared haven't been touched.Edit - two nights later, the slugs returned and scaled the copper walls. I now have no coriander plants left and conclude that these collars are a deterrent but not a cure. I shall go back to slug pellets and place cages over them so that birds don't eat the poisoned slugs

Copper Slug Bands
I buy these to keep the slugs off the Hostas and they do work. I usually put them around the plants in the spring and they stay until they start to die back. So they are used year after year I only buy more as the Hostas increase. Would definitely recommend them as they are pet and bird friendly unlike slug pellets.I Smith

Helps save your plants
Have brought some slug rings before so knew what they were like. These are handy easy and good to use. Although not 100% slug proof they definitely work well and cut down on the damage that slugs can do. Last year the slugs were out in force but my plants were saved by the rings. Easy to fit around plants and can be slotted together to make larger rings for bigger plants. Worth buying

Slugs don't like these rings.
I have delayed writing this review because I wanted to see if these bands really were effective over time. Well I am pleased to report that 5 weeks on all three Hosta plants are doing well in their slug free rings without a hint of being eaten alive. So this really is a pesticide free way of keeping your plants from being munched by slugs.

It works
I have had no snails within the band and my hosta plants are looking beautiful. I cannot believe it. They are new plants and I will have to purchase more to increase the circle as they grow. They are a bit expensive, but the only thing that works. As we feed hedgehogs in the garden, snail pellets were not an option. Fantastic. Could have done with 6 in the pack. Five is an odd number.

The bands are a good height so I'm hoping they will deter unwelcome visitors. The slit closure is really good - the last set I had didn't have the slits and they keep opening up, which isn't helpful...

I put these around my dahlias and they protect the young shoots. I leave my dahlias in all winter as I live in the south of England. The copper bands are left in place to show me where the dahlias are so I don't accidentally put a spade through them.
