Title: "The Feminine Mystique" - Empowering Insight into Women's Liberation
Betty Friedan's "The Feminine Mystique" is a groundbreaking exploration of women's roles and expectations in mid-20th century America. In this seminal work, Friedan challenges the prevailing notion of fulfillment through domesticity, shedding light on the dissatisfaction experienced by countless women trapped in the confines of traditional gender roles. With clarity and conviction, Friedan advocates for women's liberation and the pursuit of meaningful lives beyond societal expectations. While some arguments may feel dated, the book's core message remains relevant and empowering. "The Feminine Mystique" serves as a catalyst for societal change, inspiring generations of women to question and challenge gender norms. It's a must-read for anyone interested in the history of feminism and the ongoing struggle for gender equality.

As Relevant 60 years later!
Fabulous! Had to re-read this classic after seeing Betty Friedan in the series Mrs America. This book was written in 1963 and has been called “one of the most influential non-fiction books of the twentieth century.” In 1957, Friedan wrote a questionnaire for her former classmates at a reunion (15 years after they had graduated) at the all-female Smith College. 200 women answered the questionnaire. The results revealed that many women shared the same frustrations as she did in the role of housewife and mother and that they did not feel happy or fulfilled because they never realised their full human potential. Friedan’s findings became the basis for this book, which is supposed to have set the “Second Wave” of feminism in motion and established Friedan as one of the chief architects of the women’s liberation movement. Unfortunately, the book is as relevant today as when it was written!
