This book may not be for the absolute beginner. Having painted for many years, I found it to be exactly what I was looking for as a guide to painting individual flowers. Also, the finished arrangements for still lifes and how to execute them are excellent not only as painting guides, but inspirations for arranging still life setups of my own flowers. I love this book, and plan to buy more copies as gifts for my artsy friends and relatives.

Mediocre paintings. Disappointing Co. Pared to many of this genre of painting

I like the way they show the painting in stages so that you can see how the artist is applying color, with notes on the side explaining what has been done.

I bought this to work in conjunction with art classes I am taking. I want to paint flowers and this book has a lot of good insight into light and shadow, how to block out your picture, lists of what you need to have, and step-by-step instructions on paint blending and how to work through each picture.
