Seagate Barracuda 500GB Internal Hard Drive (ST500LM030)

Works as expected, no complaints yet.

The hard disk has a nice form factor and is slightly thinner than a WD 1TB harddisk. I also checked the disk in harddisk dentinal and came out fine. Though, my problem was the lack of proper packaging. While the drive was undamaged, I cannot say that about the packaging. It came with only a flimsy plastic box and the outer packaging was not even a proper cardboard box. Except that the product is as good as advertised.

I ordered this and got one which seemed faulty. My PC already had one WD 1TB SATA disk and I wanted to add one extra drive as my backup drive. The first drive that came was not working properly. I tried to troubleshoot and saw that many articles are suggesting to check the power and data cable. I knew that there is no issue with my motherboard as it is already detecting another SATA drive and all other SATA ports are enabled. So, I swapped the power and data cable without any success. I ordered a replacement, it was delivered to me on the next day; I connected to my PC with same cables and it started working like a magic. It gives you 1869 GB of effective storage, which I think is great in this price range.

The drives are very low quality. I may be one of the many customers who is having the same issue as most of the customers have of this drive. The drive worked only for a few months then it started making a click sound and drive suddenly becomes unresponsive. The drive stops reading and writing and the head is constantly making the click sound. The drive finally gave blue screen error and then a black screen appeared S. M. A. R. T. status is bad backup and replace.I gave the drive to seagate warranty but they said data recovery is not covered so lost all data and i did the RMA to seagate and returned their product and after a week they gave me a refurbished drive note that this is not a new drive but a used and repaired drive which is fit for normal use that drive was given to me as replacement which i received and installed in my pc and used it for a week and guess what happened! This drive also malfunctioned the same way as the original drive malfunctioned that too in a week only. Imagine the shock and pain you have to go through to see the drive that seagate dispatches to you after certifying it as refurbished product that too is also not reliable.Now i am currently sending this refurbished drive also for RMA to seagate warranty service becauae this also is not working. Can you believe it. The pain and stress you have to go through while backing up and restoring data twice can not be said in words. Also there is no data recovery warranty so rely on your god and luck for whatever portion of data you can backup cause if drive goes completely malfunctioned then forget whatever data you have to get back. The memories of your life that you want to cherish is all gone. All because seagate has exported really low quality products which does not seem to pass any reliability test of any type and just dumped them all to india.Very bitter experience from seagate. Never buying any storage media or any electronic product from this company.Also the packaging that was done by AMAZON and APPARIO clearly showed their ignorance regarding how a product sensitive like hard drive shoud be packed and given.The packaging was of very inferior quality and AMAZON really does not know how handle logistics of sensitive products.Never buying any seagate product for me and probably never order any eletronics good from amazon anymore. 🙅🙅🙅😠😠😠🙅🙅🙅

Good packaging, No orignal box just the HDD in static plastic with therma protection, works just fine 8/10

Hdd come with good packaging with safety.and this is whole new product not refurbished or used one.The product is brand new .It may b little costly.Wgat I think .Bcz this is my first time purchase and I don't have lot idea on this category.

I purchased it in Sept 2020 for ₹4999/-Baracuda 2 TB 5400 RPM. It lasted for 4 years. It is still working, but now making thak thak sound while starting the pc and while using the disk. It may crash at anytime. I've backed the data up. PC is used in an AC room by single owner and this disk only 248 GB of 2 TB is used so far.Another internal Hard disk WD 1 TB installed in same PC is 8 years old and fully 1 TB used is working fine till now.

I use these for project archiving. Great drives. Recommend.

I purchased the item to replace the hard drive on my ps4 since all the connections match my original ps4 model. Works perfectly but it's a bit of a challenge to reconfigure my ps4. To replace my original drive I needed a usb drive with the update file, the 1 GB version not the smaller file. Once I got the right file, from Sony, the installation was no problem. If you are changing the drive you'll need to backup your save files with psn or a usb drive. It's also convenient to move your games off the hard drive to a usb drive then once your new drive is configured you can just plug in the drive and the drive will load the games to the new desktop.
