frustration
If you like to be frustrated, buy this thing. I got it a 3 pm today and worked on it for 4 hours. Almost wanted to step on it. The touch screen is so over engineered. Not simple. This was a gift for my daughter and I am so glad I tried it out first. There are too many defects on this to mention them all. Here are some: Remote control does not work, Touch panel design stupid and aggravating, Sound volume at the max is no more then a whisper. And on and on. Do not recommend this product.

8" PanTouch - Excellent Photo Frame!
Picture quality is great, images are clear (assuming the photo you are viewing isn't blurry to start!) and colors are rich and accurate. I found this frame easy to use right out of the box, and I like the pan touch feature. I don't need photos to play in order and don't use wi-fi, so those were not issues for me. Price through Amazon is probably the best I found after searching all over the internet. If you are thinking about getting this frame but are still shopping around for price, make sure you check out the specifications. For example, at Costco they sell the frame for a similar price but when you check the specs you will see the frame only has 128 or 256 MB (as opposed to 512 MB) of memory and doesn't have the pan touch feature*** UPDATE ***11/25/08I looked up the 8" PanTouch on Amazon today because I am thinking about getting another one as a gift for my husband for Christmas, and after seeing the revised item description and reviews, I felt compelled to update my review. When I first reviewed the PanTouch in 9/08 it was fairly new and there were only a few reviews. Now, it looks like Amazon has combined all the different types and sizes of Pandigital frames into one item with a pull down menu and also consolidated the reviews for these different frames. Please read carefully when you are reading the review to make sure it applies to the frame you are considering!I cannot speak to the other frames, but as far as the 8" PanTouch, I stand by my original review. The frame performs well, is easy to use, pictures look great and the frame looks great on my desk. I will say that I agree with some of the other reviewers that the frame stand is a little loose, if I hit the frame it will fall back, but for the most part this has not been a problem. Hope this helps!

Love it
Edit: Updated 6/20 - I had to lower the stars as the frame did not last very long before only intermittently turning on. Bummer.Original review:Perhaps I went into this with low expectations because of the crappy ratings, but this frame works excellent for $50 (in 2020) and I think some people are way too hard on it - though I'll grant that some may have paid much more for it.Some say the frame looks and/or feels cheap - I think it's just fine for the price pointResolution is decent for the sizeThe touch interface takes a moment to get used to - it is not a touch screen, it's only the matte that is responsive. While not a responsive as the touch screen on a $1000 iPhone 10, it works ok for the need.It has a built in timer with optional weekend settings - awesomeIt supposedly plays music and videos - haven't tried it and couldn't care lessHas a built in in clock - I like thatDownsides: the box claimed that it supported network transfer and bluetooth - only inside the box does it reveal that both features require buying separate modules. Very sneaky. But, again, there is no other frame with those features for less than 3 times the price.

Useless
At first use, the screen went flat blue with a "Setup" message. Maybe 5 seconds later, it went black and has been that way ever since. After trying every manual setting and adjustment, and every combination of manual controls and inputs, I tried on-line help. Windows says the device is "Not working properly" and the device "Can not be recognized." Their software troubleshooting options all result in "Replace the device". Pandigital has been out of business for two years and there is no help for this, nor is there any excuse for selling electronic devices known to be obsolete. True, the price was marked down a lot. Not enough.

Figured out how to turn off the clock.
Several reviewers have mentioned that the clock cannot be shut off in slide show mode. I too was very frustrated by this flaw until I discovered the buttons on the back of the frame. At first I though they just mirrored the touch controls on the front. If you press the "Setup" button a green menu appears that I couldn't find through the front controls. Scroll down to "Enable Clock Display" and switch it to off.I wanted a frame that played videos so I could stop using my digital camera as a movie player for my 22 month old son. The picture quality is good, although it is sensitive to viewing angle. Movie playback is just OK, it could be smoother. The frame is a bit clunky looking. I would prefer something more modern looking but that is a matter of personal taste.

Overall Great Digital Picture Frame
This is a very good picture frame for the price considering everything that is included.PROS: internal memory is a great feature, 512 MB easily holds 1500+ high resolution pictures and dozens of videos (my camera is 12 mega pixels). Additionally, it allows many different internal memory formats if needed.the screen produces a very good image. All my photos are crisp and clear on the screen (not sure why some posters said the screen quality was poor either).the touch screen works very well, better than my cell phone in fact. Set up was very easy and not difficult at all.the audio feature is cool for the videos that I have placed on it, just be aware that the frame does not produce a lot of sound for your vidoes.CONS: my only complaint with this frame is the stand that is included on the back of the frame. It is cheap, thin plastic and barely holds up the frame. My frame kept falling over until I modified my stand so that it works much better.OVERALL: I would definately recommend this to anyone. All things considered, this is a great product. I purchased this for my wife as a Christmas present to show off our pictures from a Mexican Riviera Cruise and she loves it!
