Great affordable and tiny pc
This tiny gkmtec G2 plus has exceeded all my expectations. When I received it I immediately wiped it and did a fresh install of windows 11 pro as I'm very picky about my windows installation and like things set up and running to my own standards and with as little interaction with Microsoft etc as possible. After installing windows 11 pro I installed the appropriate drivers which I had already downloaded from the gkmtec website. This was easy to do as the site is well laid out. I then installed software like Libre Office, Adobe Photoshop, Brave browser, Surfshark VPN and much more. Everything is running fine and quite speedily considering the tiny size of the computer. Browsing is quick, 4k video playback impressive and editing in Photoshop a breeze.I also like retro gaming and I made a bootable install of Batocera with many emulators. These included Megadrive, SNES, N64, GameCube, PS2 etc etc and again everything runs great.I really didn't expect this tiny and affordable pc to be so good and I really am impressed by it.But it with confidence.

You can run TrueNAS in it!
I purchased this mini PC with the intention of replacing my aging QNAP TS-251(more on this later). The G9 N150 arrived well packed with 12GB DDR5, 64 GB EMMC and an 1TB NVME. The mini-PC had both Windows 11 and Ubuntu 24.10 installed. There was nothing special about the unit besides its tiny size, compared to my old NAS. If you have had any other computer from GMKtec, the style is the same as the others (I also have a G5 running a web server). My only complaint is about being all plastic as this makes the cooling harder (more on this later). The plan was to add 4 larger NVMEs (2TB) and run the NAS with a RAIDz drive format, which would give me enough space to transfer files from my old NAS.I wanted an open-source NAS platform. Initially, the recommendation from others was to install OpenMediaVault as TrueNAS has had installation issues on EMMC drives. However, there was some hope I could go directy to TrueNAS if I installed an older version and followed with an upgrade. Therefore, I downloaded the TrueNAS SCALE 24.04.2.5 and followed the instructions on how to install. I used the 64 GB EMMC as my boot OS disk. I also modified the G9 bios to turn on after a power outage. The installation of the Dragonfish (24) of TrueNAS was without any issues and soon I was accessing the system via the webpage and completing the task with a full upgrade to the ElectricEel version 25. I installed the 4 NVME drives and set up them as RAIDZ1, allowing me to have the security of one of the disks going faulty without loosing the RAID.Overall, I am pretty happy with the NAS and the timing was almost perfect. When I went to transfer the files from my old TS-251 I discovered the drive had just failed. It took me a full day to recover it and transfer them to the new PC. If there is an issue, is mostly regarding the temperatures of the drivers. They get quite hot at 54 degrees. In summary, I have a device with very low power consumption, easy to be installed and with almost no noise level. Quite happy.

Amazing little Mini PC
I bought this mini PC mainly to FTP files to other devices in the house and I am shocked at how good it is. I’ve set up Remote Desktop so I can access it from anywhere. The quality of build, speed and features are impressive for a normal PC never mind something the size of this! I’ve mounted it to the back of an old Panasonic 32” TV and you wouldn’t know it was there. The performance is excellent with the new N150 chip coupled with the DDR5 RAM. The fans are quiet, even under stress like decoding videos etc.I use the built in WiFi and the speeds are excellent and not had any drop outs. The built in LED’s are a nice touch and give a gentle glow at night.Overall I’m blown away by this device, especially for £140. If you’re thinking of buying one and have been looking at multiple others like I did, just buy this!

Great for a small NAS
This is a handy little n150 box that offers a bit more headroom for expanding its storage than most of these mini pcs. The 4 NVME slots are easy to access with a normal screwdriver and nowadays large NVME drives are quite reasonably priced, making them more viable than ever for a small NAS.I'm running a simple Immich and Jellyfin setup on this, just using docker on Ubuntu, and setup was pretty simple. The N150 processor should have enough oomph for my needs and more. The machine is quite quiet, although it is audible if you're close to it.My one concern is that the NVME bays aren't given a lot of room for airflow and they might get quite warm in hotter weather and heavier use. For now, they're working fine though. Worst case I can continue using this as a server and connect it to another NAS.The system comes with Ubuntu already installed, but you can obviously add unraid, windows, or whatever else that's compatible with x86 hardware.Recommended if you want a minipc with an option for larger internal storage capacity than most.

All good so far
I've been using this mini PC for two or three weeks, and I've tried out most of its features, plus I've updated it to Windows 11 Pro 24H2, all without problem. I've tried it with both RJ45 and Wifi LAN connections, HDMI and DisplayPort monitor connections, USB SSDs, Bluetooth mouse etc. The only thing I'm still a little dubious about is that it runs quite hot (the cpu and motherboard settle at around 65 degrees C in use), but so far that hasn't caused a problem. The performance is pretty good - it's not an Intel i7, but for most things it's absolutely fine - just don't expect it to stream Amazon Prime video on a 4k monitor without stuttering. Overall, stunning value - I use it all the time. Thanks.
