Spectacular Iron
The CHI Iron is well-built and versatile, making it suitable for pressing or steaming any garment. The temperature control dial is nearly accurate, allowing you to select the appropriate setting for different fabrics (note that this may vary with other models). The steam function is adjustable, letting you control the level of steam output as needed, which is a fantastic feature. With two press triggers for spray and steam, this iron provides greater precision for detailing garments. The cord retraction button works effectively, provided the cord is straight and only has minor tangles. The titanium ceramic-coated soleplate allows for ease of use when pressing or steaming garments.A key safety feature is the auto shut-off, which prevents the iron from burning garments or starting a fire. It will automatically shut off after 30 minutes if resting on its heel, after 60 seconds when resting on either side and after 60 seconds when resting on the soleplate.Additionally, the self-cleaning feature uses steam to clean out the ports and remove any debris or dirt.**Cons:**The titanium ceramic coating can be scratched, as it is just a coating like that on a nonstick pan. Improper handling can damage it, especially when in contact with zippers, metal buttons, pins, and protrusions on garments. Exercise caution to protect the soleplate. While the retractable cord is convenient, it is not 100% reliable and may jam, preventing the plug from fully retracting. The cord can overlap itself inside the casing, which may cause it to get stuck, so it needs to be guided when the retraction button is engaged.Still worth purchasingđŻ

Love this iron!
Replaced my seven year old Rowenta iron with this one. I iron household items and also sew. I love that this iron stays on for 30 minutes if in an upright position and beeps when it's about to shut off. It turns itself off after 10 minutes if on its side or flat on a surface without movement. It heats up very quickly. Steam output is adjustable which is a nice upgrade from the Rowenta. I hadn't heard of this brand before but it was recommended by Wirecutter, so took a chance on it rather than just getting another Rowenta. Worth the money!!!!

Makes a chore into a breezeâŚ
Im a 53 y/o Gen Xâer that grew up having to have my clothes ironed. As an adult with a professional job, I still do. For years, I never knew anything about irons other than the typical $10 - $20 variety you find in most discount stores. After using those for years (and throwing them away after a few years)âŚI wondered if there wasnât an iron that didnât require 10 passes to get out wrinkles. Looked at all the types and brands and settled on this one at a mid-range price. BEST $70 IâVE SPENT! You can feel and see the difference with an iron like this one with higher voltage/heat and lots of steam! I assure you, I hate ironing and tend to let it pile up and have a whole dayâs worth before I do it (and have cheated and taken clothes to the cleanerâs for pressing at $150 - $200 per trip. With this new CHI iron, I get it all done in about half the time and the results look great! My boss even made a comment in a meeting that I was âshowing up the rest of the team with creases in my shirts you could cut a finger on.â We laughed, but I was so proud of my iron (even with my average ironing skills). It uses a lot of water/refills (becauseâŚLOTS of steam) and is a bit heavy, but worth it for the results. It is ample size, has plenty of cord length for my needs, and I like that it has the auto-off feature with a digital âbeepâ reminder if I leave it on. A long review, and a lot of gushing over an ironâŚbut has saved me time and effort (and money from professional pressing) and I would put this one in the ânear luxuryâ category of irons.

Lots of steam, but heavy
Overall, this appears to be a well-made iron, but with a few wrinkles. (Yes, I hear it, too.)Steam function: This iron will steamroll wrinkles, for sure! It produces quite a nice, even blast of steam. However, more steam means more water, so if you're doing a lot of ironing with the steam on full, you'll have to refill it with water more frequently. But you can also control how much steam the iron makes.Weight and size: This is a fairly heavy, large iron. If you're used to ironing with a smaller, lightweight style, you'll have to get used to maneuvering this one. The angle of the handle was also a change for me. You may not be able to move this iron around buttons as fast as a smaller iron, but once you get used to the weight and balance, it's fine. I found it helpful to lower my ironing board.Retractable cord: This feature was appealing, but it doesn't work as well as I had hoped. The cord will retract, but sometimes it takes a couple of tries before it's fully retracted. Be sure to follow the instructions and hold onto the cord while it's retracting, otherwise the plug end could give you quite a snap if it hits you.Controls: The heat controls are a little hard to see and access due to the size of the handle. This is a small inconvenience.Power on/off: There is no on/off switch on this iron. Plug it in and it's on. If you don't use the iron for a time, it has an auto shutoff, but you'll have to unplug and plug it back in to turn it on. This could be an inconvenience if you're using the iron while sewing or quilting and would like the iron to stay hot. However, it does heat up very quickly.I'm hoping this iron proves to be as durable as the much less expensive Black & Decker model that I was using before. If it does, the amazing steam and smooth plate will have been worth the cost and adjustment.
