The Cardiac Recovery Handbook: The Complete Guide to Life After Heart Attack or Heart Surgery, Second Edition

Not useful for me
I had a myocardial infarction a few months back and purchased this book for reference. It really did not help me very much at all. I needed some info on cardiac rehab -- what it consist of, how useful it is, and so on, but the book only gave the very highest-level description. It also only briefly talks about post-event exercise and what is to be expected, what limitations are possible etc. Very basic stuff that any cardiac patient might want to know. It only speaks about ejection fraction as a glossary entry, although that is a major item for many cardiac patients. And finally, glaringly, it does not talk about when it is normal or safe to have sex after an event.

Must have.....
This is a great book for anyone wanting to learn the best way to recover after a heart attack. It is a must read for all members of the family who have ether had a heart attack or is helping someone in the family who has had a heart attack. This book clearly explains the why, how and answers most questions that come up in the post attack recovery. It has been read and referred to often and still gives us explanations when we are still learning about the best way to make changes in our diet and lifestyle to be healthier than before.I highly recommend this book!!The accompanying cookbook is only three star! there are better cookbooks that cover diet changes better!

Well worth if you cant attend the cardiac rehab itself
Book lists in page 173 items that Medicare will or will not pay in a cardiac rehab course. But, book was printed 4 years ago in 2014. Medicare has changed what they will or will not cover with payment.

Gives the big picture on heart attack recovery
I bought this for my dad after he suffered a heart attack last December. He read this in two days. It really gave him a complete overview on what happened to his body and what is going on while it is in recovery mode. I would recommend this as a complete picture of cardiac recovery.
