Excellent quality- with one warning.
I was very torn on whether to give this kit five stars or fewer; the fact of the matter is that in almost every way, this is the most premium Horse Racing set I've used. The horse game pieces are well cast and individually painted with their numbers, the included wooden dice feel very premium, the decks of cards are well printed and more than adequate for the game, and they included poker chips for easy non-cash play (or if you want to play other games). The board itself is well made with holes that are properly sized for the game pieces (no worry about accidentally knocking horses over all the time), everything feels top notch and premium, and it all folds up inside the board and clips shut for easy storage. There is one big flaw in this otherwise perfect game set though. The hinges open downward- so when you open the game and lay it on the table, the side of the metal hinges will be pressing into your table. If you're playing on a tablecloth or a game mat, this is not an issue. But if you're playing on a hardwood surface, especially a nicer surface, I fear you could easily scratch your table with normal play. That being said- these hinges did not have any rough or sharp edge to them, and I think you'd need to apply a lot of pressure to do much damage, but it is still a concern. If you keep that lone flaw in mind, this is probably the best horse racing set you'll find. I'm going to give it five stars; but I hope the manufacturers consider a revision in the future that does more to countersink the hinges and provide protection for the table below!

ESENHARBER continues to impress
The ESENHARBER brand is one that I have now received 3 wooden game boards from, and each one has been of such high quality that the premium price for their items is worth it. This Horse Race Board Game is no exception. High quality wood with and exceptional varnish along with super high quality horses will impress your friends and makes the game more enjoyable. The shine, the detail and the coloring of each horse is just fantastic, the best I have seen on the 3 boards I have reviewed. Betting chips are heavy enough to feel like you have real casino quality chips. If this set has a weakness, it is the dice. Thet are just a little larger than most six sided dice, but the finish and coloring makes them seem very bland compared to the rest of the set. If you are going to play this game in a public setting, or fairly often with friends, this is the board to buy. Exceptional job again KESENHARBER, keep up the great work.

Beautiful set, but with some drawbacks
I found a lot to appreciate about this production of the horse racing game, and in many ways it lives up to its name of premium, but I discovered a couple of issues which were enough to preclude a perfect, five-star rating.I'll start with the positives.--The board is large and very solid. It is well-made, with clean, accurate paint marks, and strong, metal hardware. Most importantly, the cleanly drilled holes are correctly sized for the horse figurines. Some sets have holes which are too shallow or wide, and the result is loose horses which can rock back and forth or even fall from their places. Not so, here. It's also great that the horse figurines (and everything else) can be stored inside the soft foam insert within the board. This is wonderful for preventing the accessories from scratching up against one another and damaging the pieces.--The horses are fantastic. The quality is definitely there. They are fairly detailed and realistic, and they're numbered, which is great for being able to see at a glance which horse needs to be moved, instead of trying to figure out which lane the horse is in, in order to be able to figure out which number is assigned to that figurine.--The poker chips are nice, too. They're not flimsy, lightweight plastic; they have a satisfying weight in the hand, and are easy to pick up and handle.Other things fell short for me.--The dice are fine. There's nothing wrong with them, but they are larger than normal, and are a bit awkward for me to shake in the palm of my hand. I personally would have liked standard white dice with black pips, and the customary size.--I can't comment on the cards, because I didn't receive any. Two decks of PVC cards are included in the price of the set, and the spaces to hold them are there, but the places are empty.--What makes this worse is that the game came with a warranty card, which I used to reach out to the company to ask for the missing cards. I waited a week, although the card says they'll respond within two days, and then emailed them a *second* time, and they still haven't responded to me. Given that they made a big deal about how you can reach out to them for damaged or lost accessories, this is especially disappointing.
