Early days but so far impressed.
I have not rated the durability of the kettle yet as only time will tell in that regard, but this shall be my impression so far.I have had the kettle a couple of days now and so far am very impressed. The build quality is very nice, the kettle has an all metal interior (no plastic at all as they replaced the plastic filter with a stainless steel one upon request: as a side-note, if you are wondering how to go about that, once you have completed your order go to the order status and chose to contact the seller to customise your order and request it there). It has a really nice finish, comes very well packaged and came with the addition of a set of teaspoons not mentioned on the item page itself. This is the most expensive kettle I have purchased, but having had four kettles in a row fail on me due to inherent flaws in the design (windows which eventually leaked on three seperate models of kettle) and cheap construction choices (a plastic handle attached to the metal body of a kettle largely by glue, with the plastic/glue eventually wearing out, cracking and seperating due to the heat), I am happy to give this a try.As far as the aesthetic of the kettle, it has a really nice mirror finish and makes a nice addition to the kitchen.

Serendipity
I bought this to replace a ‘quiet mark’ kettle by Russell Hobs that I had to return after three weeks, which was unusable from day one because of the foul taste. If you’re reading this there’s a fair chance you too have learned the hard way that it’s something to do with the plastic in just about every kettle on the market, but not in this one. So, while I’ve only had mine for a day, I can say the water tastes exactly as it should and for that reason alone I’m more than happy with this purchase. But there’s more. This kettle is way quieter than the RH, which was supposed to be one of the quietest out there, and even more quiet than the very noisy duralit that died on us a few weeks back. I know it’ll get a bit noisier over time, all kettles do, and while you’d still need to speak up a little with this in the background, you won’t have to wait until it’s finished boiling. And there’s more still; even though the aesthetics weren’t terribly important to me and beauty is in the eye of the beholder, it’s a pretty appliance that exudes sturdiness and build quality. Oh, and the company supplied it with the stainless steel filter and uk plug. I emailed them just in case but suspect they’d already anticipated that.I really hope we get a few years out of this kettle, because I like it a lot, but only time will tell.

Does what is advertised
Sturdy and heavy. May not be suitable for the frail when full. Commands a good spot in the kitchen.. Did not expect it to get as much as limescale as it does. However no plastic involved so that makes me a very happy person.

which was a nice surprise, and after a few weeks of using ...
The kettle arrived sooner than I expected, which was a nice surprise, and after a few weeks of using it I now can say that I absolutely love it! I've been looking for a plastic free kettle for a while and I'm happy to say that I finally found one which is also really robust as well as beautifully made. It will look pretty in any kitchen. It boils the water as quick as any standard electric kettle, and the water tastes... like water! Even after very first boil. I can finally enjoy a cup of tea without horrible taste of plastic. It pours really nicely too, the spout is positioned just right so there is no leakage, no spillage or tipping your kettle upside down to get that last bit of water out (like my previous kettle). I highly recommend to everyone who wants a plastic free kettle to get this one. It's really good! Although you have to ask for stainless steel filter to go with your non plastic kettle, but don't worry because costumer service is an absolute delight. Very professional, very quick in response and just super nice. I even got a UK plug without asking.

Unfortunately it broke after a promising start
Thought I'd use it for a while before writing the review. I bought it in April this year (2018) and initial impressions were good. It's straight forward, solid and does the job. Unfortunately the plastic knob on the lid that is critical if you want to fill the kettle :) has come off. There is a screw to which the knob attaches that is spot welded to the lid. Clearly mine wasn't done well. Still on my search for the holy grail of a decent kettle and unfortunately i cant recommend this one.I drilled through the lid and fed a bolt through to re attach the knob on the lid so that I could keep using the kettle.Just to add, now 8 months since I bought this very expensive kettle and it's finally packed up. The lights are on at the base which implies that the heating element has packed up. Personally, given my experience I wouldn't take the risk at this price point.

Good quality plastic-free kettle
At last a plastic-free kettle! Well the handle and base are plastic which makes sense, but the vital internal part of the kettle is all stainless steel. Similar to a traditional kettle design but still stylish, and a good robust construction. As you would expect your tea tastes like - tea!!! Not chlorinated phenols, ugh. I have recently sent back two kettles because I don't want to drink contaminated water and was shocked at just how hard it was to find a plastic-free kettle. We are told that these plastics are harmless but how can you evaluate ingestion many times a day for a lifetime? Anyway, back to the Alice Nero kettle. It takes a bit longer to boil than many kettles but it's not a game changer and the great thing is the element is below the water container so it should aid cleaning no end. Someone had mentioned needing to remove the lid to fill but I've found that a jug with a decent spout does the trick nicely. The accompanying instructions are detailed to a fault but what a nice change compared to unintelligible diagrams and no words at all. Helpfully they also give exact instructions for cleaning limescale with vinegar - again no unnecessary chemicals. And the complementary teaspoons are a nice touch. Overall, certainly not the cheapest kettle you can buy but good quality, and apparently customer service is good too. All we need now is for someone to make a plastic-free water filter jug (apart from the actual ion-exchange resin). Any ideas Ottoni Fabbrica?
